Mike has revealed all kinds of little pieces of information about DROD 3.0. (Some people can't seem to stay quiet. Just look at the list :D) I thought it would be nice to have all of it in one place. I probably missed something, but here's what was found from search with words "3.0" and "TCB" and author "mrimer". There's definitely some interesting stuff, and it's worth a look if you want a little preview of some new features.

Click the plus signs for more information about the subject.

All corrections and additions are welcome.

Ask Questions about TCB and DROD 3.0 contains a lot of fresh TCB information, and is also definitely worth checking out. I'm not currently planning to add everything mentioned there on this list.

New Objects
+ Pressure Plates
+ Red, green, blue, and black Sister Gates (or 'anti-doors', if you prefer the term)
+ Adders (green serpents, able to eat other monsters)

General
+ + + Possibility to add new room styles into the game
+ Importing files into DROD by dragging and dropping them on the application
+ + Better UI for hold selection menu
+ Jump-to-letter in hold selection menu (with Ctrl)
+ More information displayed while importing files
+ Importing multiple files at once
+ Enhanced game engine

Gameplay
+ Undoing while placing mimics will go back to the turn before stepping on the potion
+ Locking room edges, so you can't exit a room accidentally.
+ A "battle" key as an alternate way to make repeated movements
+ Three new ways to interact with evil eyes
+ Cutscenes

Editor
+ Seeing bomb blast radius in editor (with chain reactions) and in-game (without chain reactions)
+ A better way to handle story events with important timing
+ Copying NPC scripts from room to room without exporting and importing
+ + Improved sound effect handling in a hold
+ Keyboard commands for undoing and redoing in editor
+ Copying serpent-like monsters and obstacles in the room editor
+ Custom artwork for characters

Scripting
+ Scripting command: Relative coordinates
+ Scripting command: "Pathfind to X,Y" and variations of it
+ Scripting command: "Die"
+ Scripted user music
+ Text-script conversion

Demos
+ + Information about already uploaded demos will be included along with a player file when exporting it

Will data.dat be dynamic? Or will it continue to get more and more bloated, similar to the way my waistline has over christmas?

I just checked data.dat and it's now at 134 meg, which I suspect is small compared to some.

Okay, now Matt is just making stuff up. There are no zipped lip monsters in the current build of TCB, and haven't been for at least a month.

Hmm... unless he was talking about the new threat clock graphics. I guess I could see that. Oops, I may have said too much. I hope I don't accidentally press "Send Reply."

Hah, a coding error. Sorry, I just find those funny.

Anyway, I know the true meaning of Matt's statement. The new monster is not a zipped lip, but a Zipper of Doom. If it moves into your square, it zips itself around Beethro and cuts him to pieces. But it can also destroy other monsters by this method.

Or maybe it just attaches itself to Beethro's sweatshirt/tunic/whatever. I haven't decided which is cooler yet.

No, they've implemented the zipper so that Beethro can turn up in the Kingdom Hearts series without looking out of place.

I would request that bar-solvers only post in threads designated for them. Otherwise, several things would happen, mainly division in the forum, anarchy, removal of the middle class, etc.

Otherwise, if Schik coded a “you must have less than 10 goodies to see this text” tag, I would have no problems.

Nah, I edited my post because I figured some people would be upset that I pulled out a goodie tag to tell people that [goodies]what they know neatly dovetails with the little I know[/goodies].

Or that putting the secret tag would imply that I knew secret information, but really I've been lucky in what gets. I figure that if I want you guys to stop thinking I have a direct line to the sp0il0rz I probably should stop teasing people with the little I do know.
