icon Continue story-speech while undoing (+1)  
One thing that slightly annoys me when playing through rooms is that I undo moves all the time, but if theres a long speech going at the time and you press undo, it stops it. The only way to get it back is by restarting the room (or to a checkpoint or whatever).

Now, I understand why that would happen, its far easier to do it that way, and its totally my fault when I could just wait for the script to finish before continuing to play, but..

Does this annoy anyone else? Can anyone think of some easy-to-do way of getting the speech to stay there? The 'best' way would be to just let the speech continue if it wasn't triggered that turn, but that would probably require the game remembering far more than it does at the moment (maybe?)

Anyway, as I said, its more my fault for undoing while the speech is going on, but I was wondering if it annoyed anyone else..

Yes, it annoys me too, and I've complained to Mike over IM many times, but it's just the way it is. Speech doesn't care what turn it is. If you undo, there's no way for the game to know where the speech was...it has to flush whatever speech was playing and then wait for the next trigger.

So...I highly doubt that this will be fixed. But there are some improvements coming...there are some hints in the "confirmed for 3.0" thread in the General forum.

I think - and by "think" I mean I may be totally misremembering the conversation, so don't treat this post as any sort of confirmation - that Mike once told me that he'll try to fix this for 3.0, but that it's a low priority so if he figures out a way to do it it'll be in but if not then it's not something that will slow down release or anything.

It is annoying, but I tend to wait for the dialogue anyway. It should not be so crucial to the gameplay if it is that dull.
That reminds me: Is there a way to speed/slow/pause dialogue? There really should be; I might have a feature request there...

This is something I could really get behind. There's a key to skip the entire dialogue (which is handy for, e.g., not having to hear the really creepy Evil Laugh in the Funhouse yet again), but it'd be so nice to have a key that would prompt the next line of dialogue, for those of us who read faster than others (or who sat through three minutes of dialogue and then said, "Wait, what was that last part again?", and face three more minutes of sitting upon a restart).

What about adding a drop down box below the picture of Beethro in the top left corner. Normally, this will be in the up position. However, you can click on a drop down arrow to enlarge it into a scrolling text field. As dialogue is played, each line gets added to the text field. Clicking on a line of dialogue will replay that line (if there was audio attached to it). Reseting the room could either (player option) reset the played dialogue completely, or leave what has already been played in the drop down box (although this could cause problems with dialogue that gets played on error conditions... maybe reseting ought to just clear out the dialogue box). Undoing would have no affect on dialogue.
