Today, as a Smitemaster, I feel as if I have an obligation to produce things of higher quality. Famous smitemasters such as larrymurk, Doom, and Rabscuttle have gone on to become architects. Others, such as wallu and michthro, have simply honed their skills to the point in which they can offer to clean dungeons in exceptionally less time than other exterminators would.

Others, like me, just make graphical styles that look neater and actually have the graphics completely made by themselves, without any sort of copying or color replacement. As my first foray into this sort of thing, I think this is pretty good. What say you?

I say: "Neato!"

I like it a lot! If I every actually play in AE again I'll replace the stinky Palace style with this. Good job! :)

Reminds me of just how much easier it would be to make an AE style instead of a full JtRH spritesheet.

For those of us who don't want to boot up the game in order to see what this looks like, here's what KDD Sixth Level 2N looks like with this style:

This was my fault, as I posted that post, then was about to upload the image and attach it when I was interrupted and had to go someplace for an hour. Similarly, I had to eat dinner before I could make the post in the first place.

As an added bonus, drop a trapdoor - I made the animation specifically to do that.

Ooooh, candy-coated ;)

Too bad I can't use it because AE doesn't work on Mac.

I can't remember, are we going to have this sort of functionality again on TCB, or has that been announced?

Yeah it is.

Don't forget, I use a Mac. wmarkham provides a precompiled program a bit further down that page. The link still works.

Remind me at one point in time to put these up on the website.

Actually, continually harass me until I do. It's the least I deserve.

 Woah.

I'll have to play around with that when I get my laptop back from repairs.

What sort of functionality?
Being able to add in new floor styles without losing the old ones?

TCB will support adding new room styles (not just floor textures).

I'm not sure what exactly you mean, but from what I understand of your question, that type of thing is in.

Yay! Let's all give Patrick some M&M's!! :)

ooo

By the way, nice mini-rooms and descriptions. Where'd you get them? The mini-rooms, I mean. Not the descriptions. I don't want to know where those came from.

They come from my head - I have a hold in each install of DROD that has a template for a style showcase, and I basically fill it with elements to make it look interesting and halfways a puzzle. The snakepit one was pretty obvious, and the other I basically just ried to make it look as good as possible.
