×Beethro Tries to Kill Himself: Proofreading is essential when the hold is more or less a movie. At least the humor's there.

Beethrocalypse: A solid entry. Entrance: OK stalwart manipulation puzzle. 1S: Clever eye puzzle, rest OK; I can kill myself with the western evil eye by blocking it with a mirror before waking it up.

Chaco's Safe Hold: This was an excellent representation of the theme of the contest. On the other hand, the only real puzzle here was apparently unintentional (CHALLENGE: Kill yourself in 2S), so this could have been so much more than it was.

If I'm Going to Die: 1E: Really neat fegundo role puzzle - that's a weird player role, and really worked well here. Entrance: Somewhat tedious. 1S: OK.

VIPCOOL: I didn't quite get this entry. 1E and 1W are completely trivial to die in and to clear, 1N is OK but nothing terribly new, and the entrance is good if and only if there's a way to die that I'm not seeing.

misere mission: Interesting puzzles, but a bit dependent on obscure interactions, and very tough! The primary problem here was that it seems as though most of the puzzles could have been done nearly as easily in a standard hold.

Suicidal Beethro: Only a single, decidedly meh room. The lack of effort is reflected in the score given.

Suicide is easy.: Really, the only hold of the lot that combined polish, good puzzles, and a fundamental incorporation of the theme. 1N: Very neat double solution. 1N1W: Slightly cheap. If only Zch and Kallor's decoy puzzles were this easy. 1W: Clever variation. Entrance: best of the lot, although I'm still not sure how I got the queen to go where I wanted.

Beethro Tries to Kill Himself:
Interesting, but the puzzle element was barely existant - 6

Beethrocalypse:
I think I did pretty fine job, though it pains me that I missed unintended solution in first room and I should've left the second room only with the eyes puzzle. Well, everyone makes mistakes . - 7

Chaco's safe hold:
It got me confused at first, because the solution was so blatantly obvious that for a moment I thought it was unintended, so I tried to poke around to get myself past it. I liked the 1S room very much though. - 8

If I'm going to die:
I liked the southern room, I didn't like the eastern room and I absolutely hated the entrance, I couldn't figure it out. - 8

June Contest hold VIPCOOL:
West was... completely devoid of need of any kind of brain action . North easy but nice, East was also ridiculosly easy. It seems to be impossible to die in the entrance. - 4

Misere Mission:
All but southern room were too difficult to be comfortable to me. But it was well done (though the graves were irritating) - 9

Suicidal Beethro:
Too easy for my tastes, but good idea. - 5

Suicide is Easy:
This one was by far my most favorite, with the witty humor, the tricky puzzle, and the message if you actually complete it *laughs loudly* - 10

×Beethro Decides to Kill Himself: Well, the "going over the pit" theme was cute, but the fact that the hold doesn't end is kind of annoying. It's not how I read the rules, but it's an interesting take on the idea.

Beethrocalypse: Managed to get myself killed by the rock giant and by the rattlesnake. The latter was as much figuring out how to kill the rattlesnake as figuring out how to die by it, so it didn't thrill me, but it was interestingly difficult.

Chaco's safe hold: 1S is terrific. 2S seems to be a little easier than it should have been (i.e. not using the mirror, leaving four eyes unawakened), but it's a neat little puzzle. Bonus points for positive cheese content.

If I'm going to die: I think this nicely exemplifies the contest. All three of these rooms are surprisingly hard to die in.

June Contest hold VIPCOOL: Dying in 1E was trivial; dying in 1N was fairly easy. Dying in 1W took me a little time to see, for some reason, but it's an easy task once you see it. If it's possible to die in the entrance, I didn't see how.

misere mission: Definitely some hard and interesting rooms. 1S1E is an interesting bit of DROD trivia. (Bonus points for the wubba avatar and the use of the technical term "misere".)

Suicidal Beethro: Kind of straightforward, though the arrow did give it an interesting twist.

Suicide is easy: Very clever; the western rooms are nice variations-on-a-theme (that didn't give me too much trouble), and the two eastern rooms were excellent examples of rooms that are easy to conquer and hard to not conquer, which I think really got to the spirit of the contest.

×skell: Nice little eye puzzle, but it's pretty obvious how you'll die in 1S. It wasn't clear that it was possible to die in both rooms. 5

techant: It was OK. It kind of weirded me out that the wraithwing came back after I killed it, so I suspected it was a dream (or that it was an oversight, but I'm giving benefit of doubt here). 6

brian_s: Not bad. I enjoyed it. Although it wasn't too hard to figure out which room would kill me, it wasn't obvious. Errr, I only managed to die in 1E. 7

VIPCOOL: Ehhh. It was easier to die than not die in at least one room. I wasn't able to die in the Entrance. 3

Chaco: the second 'D' in "PADD" doesn't stand for "Delving", if you were referring to the KDD level 3 scroll. I liked the cheese joke. Otherwise, good entry - I had a eureka moment solving it. 10 - 1 = 9

boyblue: One room good, the others reliant on obscure game mechanics. I'm surprised you were the only one to include headstones. 4 sorry

"Allion": A decent builder puzzle. 6

Jacob: Mindless killing, sir? Surely you jest! ...I didn't manage to die in the Entrance, because roach queens being aggressive just seems wrong to me. Nice end hold text. 9

×You can indeed die in June Contest Hold VIPCOOL: Entrance. Seeing how just about all of the secret comments I've read after playing through have mentioned they didn't figure it out, I thought it might be a good idea to confirm it's possible.

×Beethro Tries to Kill Himself
Low Level: Drop the bridge with Beethro on it.

Beethrocalypse
Entrance: Have the Rock Giant crush you (can be done with or without the Stalwart).
1S: Get killed by the Rattlesnake after 'completing' the room. Or get killed by one of the Evil Eyes by blocking their orthogonal exits with mirrors before waking them.

Chaco's Safe Hold
2S: Die to the Evil Eye on Oremites.
2S1E: Die by Hot Tile. 'Die' by taking the stairs.

If I'm Going To Die
Entrance: Die by spawned Roach or Briar.
1E: Die by Bomb (can be done with only three golems).
1S: Die by Bomb (don't need to get rid of the Wubbas).

June Contest Hold VIPCOOL
Entrance: Die by Serpent.
1E: Die by Evil Eyes (three possible Eyes, with one not requiring any secret walls broken)
1N: Die by Wraithwing
1W: Die by Rock Golem (either circle to the west or stand on the NW Force Arrow... trivial)

Misere Mission
Entrance: Die by Mud Baby (get the Stalwart to turn his sword rather than strike forward, and then block the killing move... alternatively, clear the entire blob to spawn more babies than the Stalwart can handle)
1N: Die by Briar (escape from the Guards and then use brained movement to increase your distance before entering the path)
1E: Die by Decoy (Mimic Movement Order)
1S: Die by Waterskipper (only enemy there that ignores Potions when making a killing move)

Suicidal Beethro
Entrance: Die by Hot Tile (can be done in multiple ways: you don't need to use the red builder). An interesting challenge is to do it without hitting the orb or holding down the plate with the mirror.

Suicide is Easy
Entrance: Die by Roach (kill the Stalwart with a brained Roach Queen first).
1N: Die by Hot Tile (defeat this room from the west!)
1N1W: Die by Bridge Falling (need a way to infinitely kill decoys)
1W: Die by Decoy

Might be missing a few more obscure ones (or might have totally forgotten some, heh, but I did try), but that's my list.

I have been continually playing contest on the forum since Dec 2004. Having often been addressed as a he my new avatar shows that I am a "Lady". And one with a very sharp sword, too.

I love the monthly contests but it took me a long while before I even placed. 21 contests in fact.

Virtual Burning Man was the first contest I took any place in and I got 1st, wow!. Yes, I have received my prize, a sweatshirt from the DROD store, and I love it.
