I hereby propose that stalwarts, in parallel with fegundoes and mimics, trigger checkpoints. Tracking the Stalwart's progress in an inaccessible (to player) area should also be done.

That was the justification I was proposing for the example. I wasn't saying that they weren't detrimental to the player's well-being.

That said, I just came up with the (evil) idea of using a Stalwart against the player... I may have to make a small hold around it.
