icon The Eighth Annual People's Choice Awards: VOTING! (+10)
Well, after one failed attempt, the poll is finally up with all of the entrants correct. (I realize there's an extra parenthesis next to Chaco's name up there, but I'd rather not waste yet another 45 minutes redoing the whole thing.)

This poll closes on March 25th, 8am GMT.

Welcome to the voting portion of the The Eighth Annual People's Choice Awards! YOU get to decide to whom the "Deadly" goes!

Above are listed the entrants who received at least two nominations during the nominating period. Even to have been nominated is a pretty sweet honor, so if you see your name up there, you know you're awesome! (I'm looking right at you, Matthew.) :glasses

Unfortunately there were no entries for 2. Design Excellence in a Modification or Addition or 11. DROD RPG Level Set of the Year in 2011, but we fully expect this to change in 2012. :)

The winner of each category will be the entry with the largest number of votes. If no entry in a category receives any votes, then no entry wins that category this year (even if there is only a single entrant).

If ties result, they will be run off with a quick tiebreaker vote once the major portion of voting has been concluded.

You have two weeks to vote, so if you haven't played these wonderful holds, do so! :D Good luck everyone! :thumbsup

EDIT: Here is a full list of all the holds you might want to download and play before voting!

Hey! Can't we just vote uninformed and ignorantly like people do at the polls?

In case for some reason you want even more material to look over this weekend, I've taken the liberty of adding a list to my signature of collaborative or contest holds I've contributed levels to. In addition to the holds which are authored by me, each hold in that list has at least one level that is also authored by me.

Hopefully this addition will distract people from the fact that I've hardly published anything in recent times :)

I'll also try to get my votes in this weekend.

About the scripting for A Strange Creature: It was calamarain who came up with the concept for a contest. rheb didn't create the creature, but he used it pretty well :)

Ye, sorry for missing this, I'm out traveling :)

But, no, I couldn't really accept the scripting reward. That is calamarain creation, (for the Frakenstein contest) and I think it was included for that years Annuals.

I'm really happy to see the annuals happening though!

I didn't see attribution in your hold to scripting by calamarain, but I may have missed it as I had limited opportunity to play this year. So thank you for passing that bit of information along. :)

I can't see any evidence that it's been up for a Deadly before, but if the modification first appeared in a hold prior to 2011, it would not be eligible for this year (for calamarain) to win an award.

Based on this new information I'll strike it from the list of categories when voting is done.

Well, it does mention in the hold description that it was the (reworked) winner of the Frankenstein's Wnaderer contest. And there's more explicit information in the forum thread on the Holds board.

Also, I think you severely overestimate the scripting involved in making the Wanderer work. It's literally just a "Go to Player" command every turn. DROD takes care of the rest: the scripting just gives it Required Target, Deadly and Flexible Beelining imperatives, and makes sure the character vanishes if the room has been conquered on a previous visit.

Rheb excelled in creating rooms based around this scripted element, but the scripting itself isn't terribly complex. (Now, Salamanders on the other hand....)

I see 29 votes in one category. (Myself, I didn't vote, because I wasn't around at all in 2011.)

I haven't played many of these holds so I'm afraid I'm not so helpful, but I added what few votes I could. :)

I think you can't. Once you press "Vote", you won't be able to do anything.

I think the warning "Note: Viewing results forfeits your right to vote." next to the "View Results" button might be more applicable here...
