Following oddities when setting player roles:

-Brain simply doesn't work
-Construct is an instant kill - it would be interesting to have it act as a normal construct and simply wait thirty turns to respawn - I could actually see some interesting puzzles from it.
-Puffs can't cross pits or water.
-Water Skipper Nest doesn't work.

Consider all of these very low priority. :)

Out of interest, how would one expect WSN and Brains to work?

Maybe Brain player role just sits there and directs monsters to it directly using brained pathmapping...then gets killed.

Or maybe it allows you to assume the consciousness of any monster in the room.
Now, that would be cool.

Now, that would be cool.
Brains can rotate, pause, alter, or invoke the special inventory command. The only commands sessile creatures can't invoke are the eight directional commands.

Brain and Waterskipper Nest were in 3.0, and quickly got patched out. Although I guess it could be neat to dispense friendly waterskippers.

There are others that simply don't work as if they were really that role. Fegundos rip and tear rather than impact and explode, so they're more like armored wraithwings. Aumtlich don't have beams. Seep don't die if a door under them is opened. Waterskippers can't jump onto land to kill things.

These could all be changed with only very slight modifications to existing holds, but it's been 7 years and I don't know if it will ever happen at this point. Shame, really.

Some of these work in RPG, just fyi. The RPG hold I had been working on the longest involved a lot of player role changes.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure seep worked and you'd die if a door dropped, but my memory is not so good lately.

I think I'd like the behavior to be that if a player role Construct walks onto oremites, they die (like if Beethro walked onto an active fire trap).

If that's not possible, then I guess the second-best option would be to make oremites bumpable "pit-like" terrain.

For consistency, shouldn't a "player construct" collapse after walking on oremites and die the *next* turn (if not pushed off the oremites)?

This bug fix/feature request has recently become relevant to my interests, in case anyone out there wants to gauge interest levels. It wouldn't break anything that currently exists but would allow for potentially cool puzzles.

Brain and water skipper nest player roles still doesn't work in 5.0.2. We might want to remove it from the list if there are no plans to allow it.

Constructs seem to mostly be fixed in 5.0.2. They are resistant to body slams and drop trapdoors.

But, the oremites change may have a small problem. While the construct will die if it moves onto oremites itself, if it's pushed there, it won't.

Changes in 5.0.2.1004:
- Brain and waterskipper nest removed from player roles list
- Player role construct is killed by being pushed onto oremites
- Player role construct is once again vulnerable to body attacks
