Hey all,

Mike has been locked in his basement for the last 37 hours trying to wrap this up for a traditional April 1 release. We've still got some problems, but we thought we'd go ahead and put a sneak peek out there for you all to enjoy.

Caravel Games proudly presents....

DRODman!

Let me be the first to complain about how this thing doesn't have unlimited undo.

I'm not downloading this for the simple principle that I can't taunt the program. This is why you read the EULAs, people.

Probably the most enjoyable undo feature I've used in a game, other than the sound...

I have my fire extinguisher standing by in case the friction caused by an undoing/redoing DRODman might be a hazard.

CARAVEL grants you the right to install and use copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT on your computer running a validly licensed copy of the operating system for which the SOFTWARE PRODUCT was designed [e.g., Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows Vista, Windows 7]. Though if you use Windows ME you're on your own.

Go read the rest of the EULA if you skipped it; it's hilarious.

What I love is how easy the level editor is (i.e. "open a text file and draw the level"). I feel a contest coming on...

Feature request: can we get a way to turn around without moving? Sometimes I'm facing the wrong way by a pit, and can't drop a block without doing a lot of shenanigans.

Edit: Unless that's part of the puzzle...

Wow! Finally, the elegance of Blockman and the awesomeness of the Eighth brought together! I haven't seen such brilliance since DRODtris! :thumbsup

But even though the sound effects are so great, it seems a little quiet. It needs a 30-second, repeating game tune.

I just realised that I've never completed this game before.

What I do want to say is that if you've never played this game before, then you should play it. It's brilliant. One of the best puzzle games ever. And I'm not joking.

Heavily recommended.

Well done, Mister M! :thumbsup

EDIT. And perhaps we could an official Caravel music to it. And I think a level contest for this one is a good idea.

I can't seem to import holds from previous versions of DROD into this. I don't think it's backwards compatible, for some reason.

I think this should be fixed in future patches.

Otherwise, this is a worthy successor!

Edit: This is no longer an issue. I was running it from a compressed folder before.

By viewing the source of the page, you implicitly agreed to the terms. ;)

If it's not obvious to everyone yet, this was a reskinned version of Larry Murk's BlockMan. Big thanks to Larry for conceiving of the joke, and doing ALL of the graphic modifications to make it look DROD-y.

It IS a pretty good puzzle game. :)

Let me say it again if you can't read Schik's post properly. The rooms are taken from a game called Blockman.

Unlike many other versions on the internet, this one has the official endorsement of the original author.

In fact, this version is made by the original author.

(It's a sad fact that he's never really acknowledged as the original author, but at least his holds are very acknowledged.)
