OK, not my day today, part of the hold needs not to be seen in the editor as it might reveal information that should only be seen while playing, Now it screwed all my plans up, i'm so unlucky today! :(

Umm . . Ezlo, is there a minimum size required for this contest?

I was inspired by this to start trying out the whole "Build Levels" bit of Drod for the first time, which I must say is not as scary (or as difficult) as I though it was going to be.

I have put something together, but skimming through this thread, I'm seeing people talk about 20 rooms here and 5 levels there and 40-odd entrances elsewhere, not to mention a compilation, and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I don't (didn't at any time) expect to get anywhere in terms of the competitive side of this; I just wanted to take part for the fun and the experience. How big does a submission have to be?

Well, as no one said about limitations it can be as big as you want, it is all your choice. But don't make it too big or to small as it might bore the others (and lower your note)

Also, as somebody who is actually trying to build a maze, I can say that it's not as fun as it looks at first - the trap rooms and the puzzle rooms are much, much more fun. I may just scrap the maze entirely and submit my thirty puzzle rooms and call it a labyrinth because of the really small passages.

Yep, and even finding enough labyrinth types to not bore the others is difficult, so mine is almost all mazes, but 3 rooms where killing skills for a certain type of monster is needed.
I don't know how I managed to get 24 rooms of mazes, and the rest 3 rooms that aren't mazes is or the map room, or to get to the map, or the new technology room.

Well, if you just have a very small hold with little content, people might not rank it very high. Basically, if it feels like it takes longer to download the hold and importing it than play it, it's probably too small. Otherwise, it's big enough - maybe not big enough to win, but big enough to be a respectable entry.

It looks like I underestimated the effort needed here, as I won't get my original plan done in time. I will instead just submit the first level. It's sort of boring by itself, but it's better than nothing.

Maybe I'll complete the three level project one day and post it as a separate hold.

It's fine, it's fine. Never be afraid to reduce anything in size, I say. My original maze was to be much larger than it is now. But it would have taken forever to make and not as much fun to play.

Luckily, I also included a way to skip it when I submitted my entry. To be honest, I think you'll like the puzzles more than the maze. However, the puzzles do at least sort of qualify as a labyrinth, due to narrow passages.

Can't you just cut and paste the level? IIRC, the only fiddly part is making sure stairs end up going to the correct place. And that's probably more of an issue in the holds with lots of stairs.

I'm wondering if I should change some of my rooms. They're supposed to be not too hard (except for the secret room), but I think one or two might be. (specifically the guard room and one of the brained queen ones)

I can probably fix that. I know I've done that in the past but I think it was on my old computer, so I'll have to redo the hold unpacker. But that's fairly simple (if you know how)

Creed that mine must be omitted, after the elimination of the virus from my PC, I have had to replace the card mother and this is lost. A lot was not not even good, and if you do not want, you are not obligates to you to aggiugere it.

Neather2, for the future - this is how you avoid the problem which Ezlo now has:

in 'Build Levels' you change to "anyone edit", as in the attached picture. You should always make your holds "anyone edit" until they have been tested by other players.
