OK, so rather than doing anything (much) constructive this weekend, I have devised a little puzzle.

Attached is a hold with 6 rooms and an exit room.
In each room is a tile marked by a checkpoint from which a crucial game element (needed to make the room solvable and exitable) has been taken.

It can be anything from the editor menus and your task is to work out what it is with the following conditions:

1) It cannot be a large monster (rock giant or serpent), we're only using one tile here.
2) No scripted characters or exit stairs (that would be cheating)
3) No orbs or pressure plates
4) In 1N1W the checkpoint is on oremites - you're not allowed to remove them.
5) (Just to make it a little more interesting) No potions in 1N1W either.

OK, I admit 1N1W is not the best of the 6, as you can tell from the above.

Each room has THREE solutions (that I can see - I'm sure that the clever people on this forum can come up with more).

This nicely generates a short easy three level hold (a level for each set), which I can release once the contest's done.

The first person to post all the 18 (3x6) solutions with the corresponding rooms gets 10 points.

A bonus 5 points to them, or another player, who finds an interesting variant that I'd not considered.

Enjoy. (If people like this, I've got ideas for another few rooms, and am happy for anyone else to use this idea for further such puzzles).

This seems like a very interesting contest. I'll declare my intent to create the 18 solutions.

Do we get bonus points if we come up with more than 3 solutions for any particular room?

EDIT:

1S1W has a *lot* of solutions. I count five, and I could probably make a sixth. Here's all five that I've tested so far:

Click here to view the secret text

How many of the above are legal, anyway. What's the distinction between a pre-placed double or a double potion?

I'm making decent progress on the other solutions, and will probably come up with all of them at this rate, but someone could probably do it faster than I'm doing.

If yes, then 1N 1W can be completed without adding anything onto checkpoint... :|

sorry if I understood the contest wrong.

I think you've understood the contest correctly; it's just a well-spotted strategy. Jacob could probably fix this by putting a wall or obstacle at (24, 25).

Okay, attached is my Missing Pieces Hold with three solutions to each of the six rooms. Unfortunately, I had to fudge things a bit with 1N1W and use two monsters to much the same effect.

This secret tag contains the breakdown:

Click here to view the secret text

In addition, I have another variation for Once North for a possible Set 4, and I'm going to continue to attempt to make variations for that juicy bonus, but I'm interested in seeing what Jacob (and everyone else) thinks of what I have so far.

This hold is Anyone-Edit, but the three levels can be played through normally (obviously, all rooms are possible, and 1N1W can be solved in all its incarnations without the trick mxvladi mentioned)

Oh shoot. Clearly I messed up.

No preplaced clones/decoys/mimics was another rule I was going to include.

My solutions:
Click here to view the secret text

Chaco got my solutions for Entrance and 1W. Since he used preplaced mimics/clones etc, there are 2 more for 1E and 2 more for 1N. He'll get the points anyway though.

So 1N1W was a mess. (I was thinking arrow, orthosquare and fuse!) May as well ignore this.

1S1W was also a mess - can you get 3 solutions without decoys, mimics or clones? This makes it a lot more interesting.
Roach queen was definitely one of them. There are 2 more here

I'll not post my solutions just yet in case anyone wants to think about the puzzles with these further restrictions - remaining ones are in bold.

So although not all my solutions have been found - well done to Chaco for participating and getting so many good solutions. He can get the bonus five if he gets the remainder!

I think the lesson to be learned here is that there are *a lot* of things in the TCB editor.

Anyhow, I have some more interesting variations, but I'll post again when I have a significant number.

Ah, good one! I'd been trying that one out to see if it was possible but I couldn't solve the room. Kudos!

Another fegundo or a Slayer would work in 1E, will edit the post if I find more. Cool idea!

Edit: would a one square mud mother be allowed in 1S1W?

Wow, nice solutions people.
Slayer in entrance, brain in 1W and wraithwing in 1N are great solutions I'd not come up with.

Extra fegundo in 1E, platform in 1N and tar/mud mother eye in 1S1W are indeed some of my missing solutions. Well done.

That leaves one in 1N, one in 1E and one in 1S1W.
These are sufficiently different to make them interesting and not worth revealing just yet.

I just need some more mod points to give you guys! I am out after giving 10 to Chaco.

For what they're worth, a stalwart in 1S1W and a guard in 1N1W both work.

1E is proving to be a tough problem to solve.

Well done.

Conquer token in 1N is the missing option.

Edit: How do you complete the entrance with a Slayer? And how can you do 1E with enough efficiency??

It's very evil solution. I attach demo(it works in my version of "mising pieces", of course).

And how can you do 1E with enough efficiency??

I screwed up with this, sorry. Forgot that there's also the brain in the room... :selftwak

So, taking into account the following extra rules:
* No pre-placed Clones/Mimics/Decoys
* Extra Wall at (24,25) in 1N1W
* No Mimic/Clone/Decoy Potion in 1S1W
...the full set of solutions found would be as follows:

So... here's a few more:

Probably still not complete -- it takes a while to test some of these, and some of them require a bit of thought to put into practice.

Yes, to avoid people messing with the yellow doors in the room. Though I experimented with an orb in the entrance that opened only one box.

Well done to TFMurphy - I was sure he'd find some I'd missed.
I'd thought I'd tried mothers in the entrance, but apparently not. Disarm in 1W, and mimic in entrance are good ideas.
As can be seen from my architecture thread - 1N1W has been ignored as a total right off.

Entrance seems to be the most difficult to test solutions for, since it's less lynchpin-like.

That said, a number of additional solutions are indeed possible:

1N1W is compleatable without adding any items. Edit: I was way too late spotting that one, I guess. Didn't read mxvladi's post :) I found a set of soutions, but all of them have been found before.
