Here is the rating poll for the Holds with No Doors contest. There are five official entries, and one unofficial entry (mine).

Rate the six holds using whatever criteria you want, but I'd like to politely request request that you keep in mind the theme of the contest and how well you thought these holds followed the theme.

This poll ends December 12th, 2007, 12:00 GMT. That gives everyone about nine days to play seven short holds, which I believe is reasonable.

× The stalwart either gets killed by a waterskipper, kills all the waterskippers I try to take up to the snake or gets killed by the snake. I can't get the stalwart up the snake and get a waterskipper up there too.

I agree... can't see how the skipper nest can be destroyed. Voting 5 for this one and hartleyhairs unless a solution can be shown to exist.

I also think Chaco's hold should have been a multiple choice as I really struggle playing holds with no other goal than playing them. I personally don't want to vote as I won't be playing it, but still want my other votes to count. I'll therefore give a 5 although, had it been official, I've no doubt it would be a lot higher. The 2 first rooms look very promising.

It would have been good to have a "I didn't play it" option alongside a "Perfect!", "Great", "Ok...", "Poor". I know you want feedback but I just want to help with getting votes in for official entries.

Overall, I was disappointed by the fact these holds didn't play on the fact doors "ought to be there", and finding ways to re-implement them. Having said that, there are some great puzzles here.

Well, I'd assumed (and confirmed by looking in the editor) that the builder makes it possible to destroy/destroys the nest once you've killed the snake. (Some scrolls/speech to explain this, and some checkpoints, would have been nice). But I still have the same problem with killing the snake (even though I know how to do it).

I'm not too sure what you mean about the other holds. Chaco's one has yellow and green door equivalents (and a blue door style corridor), as does mine.
Of course, what qualifies as a door-equivalent is debateable, but that's the whole point of the contest.
Of course, your point applies to some of the other holds.

Thanks for the demo. It's not clear to me what changes you made, since it seems to me that all the rooms were possible originally (you don't need to change the decoy placement in 1W for starters).

No they didn't - it's possible to get the Slayers to stab the decoys if you're clever.

I just can't seem to get the mimic to stab the crumbly wall, it's always one square too far to the west. What am I supposed to do after lighting the top-right fuse?

If it helps, I have the roach going from north to south instead of from east to west when I solve the room.

Anything beyond that is probably going to be a spoiler, so keep toggling the "yellow doors"

Once again, great job to everyone that entered! I had a great time making my entry and I think everybody else did too. There's a large variety of rooms here and I believe people will enjoy playing and optimizing the entries.
