Actually that is an interesting question, what's next? Is TSS the last DROD game entirely, or just the last game in DROD's current form? The multi-layered concept that was originally planned for JtRH (see the sketches in the Dreamplane for how this mechanic would work) could be worth revisiting at some point.

Schik - I did laugh after reading your post and thought it was funny - but all the same, I would prefer a serious answer instead of Mr. Smart Aleck-y answers. If you do not actually know, that's okay. But if you do, then I'm listening intently.

My experience tells me it will be a day in April, and will be a surprise when it does. That's how it's been in the past. Also, something is bound to happen on the first, so it's always worth checking in then. Maybe it will be something to distract us until things are ready. I don't know, but I like surprises (and have been waiting a lot longer than one year for answers, I can certainly wait longer... curling is on next week so I have something to do regardless).

We're all waiting for like 8 years, so what's a couple of weeks...

Take your time and give us a "bug-free" game.
Keep on the good work!

Sorry we don't have a date, but I am still hoping for April. Meanwhile, here's another screenshot. Slightly outdated, actually, but good enough for government work.

Hmm... Raises an interesting point... I'm guessing playing relatively early parts of TSS could give spoilers for later parts of TCB? Maybe even JtRH?

If that thing works like it looks like it works, I don't think I'll make it past that level. Not for the difficulty, but because I won't be able to stop standing just outside its tether reach and taunting it.

Yes, absolutely. In a sense, JtRH and TCB were designed to provide the backstory that leads into the epic game that is TSS. TSS tells the full story and leverages all of the build-up exposition from previous titles. We're not pulling any punches with this one.

Can I just add that I feel XKCD exactly like this, as I struggle with the final rooms of the Abyssian Fortress in The City Beneath.

Oneiromancer must feel very satisfied that the traps he laid down half-a-dozen years ago are still biting hard.

Watching through Alex's LP of JtRH, the main thing I'm taking away is that the awesome puzzles are still awesome, my bland puzzles here and there are still bland, and if I were to change something now, it would be to double the number of checkpoints in order to reduce frustration in execution.

How do monsters and mimics react to the earlier versions from the Temporal Split tokens?

Does movecount include the initial set of moves?

When you have multiple temporal clones in play the monsters react to whichever one is nearest (as they would with stalwarts).

I'm pretty sure all the moves count towards the move count.

So does that mean mimics copy the nearest instance as well? And can enemies kill the split version? If they can, what happens?

(which is still really you, so don't kill yourself, otherwise either your universe will spontaneously reboot due to paradox, or you'll have to restart the room).

You use the Clone key to rewind, and you can't switch to a different physical entity, or significantly change your physical properties while inputting moves, otherwise the quantum snapshot goes out of phase (i.e., consequently, the token won't activate on command).

So I assume that switching to a clone or drinking an invis or speed potion would disable the "Return to Temporal Split token" option.

ooh, what happens if you're already speedy when you first hit the token, then after you've rewound you take another speed potion to slow down again.
Do you see the first version zipping about a la Beethro's Teacher?

Unfortunately temporal tokens and speed potions don't make any sense. The temporal clone always has the same speed as the player.

Mimics will always track the active player's moves, as usual.

Sure it makes sense. Well, about as much as quantum entanglement makes sense.

Now that I've been formally educated in quantum entanglement, I can assure you that it does not make any sense whatsoever.

It made perfect sense before you observed it. Stop changing results of our entanglements!

Does the ice generated by fluff hold up bridges if it's adjacent to them?

Yes, but fluff babies move after other monsters, so if a builder builds water next to a bridge and a fluff baby generates ice next to the same bridge on the same turn, the bridge drops.
