Good question. We don't have global achievements, but we are adding support for scripted in-hold achievements. In keeping with tradition, we'll be calling them "Challenges".

A few other questions about the challenge system, out of curiosity:

-Are challenges required to master a hold, or are they basically a third tier of completion? (i.e. conquered, mastered, perfected)

-If they're a third tier, is there a master wall equivalent for it?

-As a ballpark figure, how many challenges does TSS itself have?

-Earlier, you posted "There are also several optional challenge levels along the way that you can unlock by doing special things." Are challenge levels unlocked by completing a set number (or a specific group) of challenges, or are they secret levels independent of the challenge system (aside from completing them possibly fulfilling a challenge requirement)?

Neither of these.

We're still adding them, but less than a hundred, surely.

These are independent of the challenge system. The challenge system is script-driven, and as such, we're not using the challenges in turn to drive hold progression. We're expanding the scripting system and continuing to use it as the foundation for implementing custom features like this.

-Challenges in TSS are unrequired. They do not open anything up.

-The optional levels are unrelated to the challenge system.
They are a challenge for the player is what mike meant.

Internal beta of TSS has officially begun!

This game is much larger than our previous releases. The TSS Windows installer is currently 372 MB.

A month of TSS beta testing has elapsed. We've found and fixed some bugs, fixed a lot of minor details in the hold, refined some rooms, and we now have a couple players who have completed the hold. There's a lot of content in here, and not everything has been covered yet. The team feels that the release could benefit from more time testing, so at this point, it looks like we'll spend some more time in April making sure the game has good test coverage before making TSS generally available.

Meanwhile, on request, I'll be releasing some more screenshots. Here's one from a prologue where you can catch up on backstory if you'd like, prior to starting the first level.

Well, there's now 38 new types of tar stuff. Let's see, that's Goo, Dye, Jam, Wet, Ash, Bog, Cud, Dew, Din, Ebb, Fat, Fog, Fur, Gob, Gum, Ice, Ink, Net, Oil, Sap, Sod, Tin, Wad, Wax... and some I'm forgetting. Oh, that's right there's the inverses of the original three: The Dead Rat, The Sleeping Dum, and The Legal Leg. Oh, and Fluff... but who's going to remember that with all those letters. :)

In a sense we'd all probably like it to be otherwise, but especially for this one I'd much prefer that the final result is top-notch, so long as having an indefinite release date doesn't make things slow down too much. I'm really liking everything I'm seeing and hearing so far. Keep it up! :)

Mike's delayed release comment happened to be 8 days before the 8th Monday of the year which is in the year 2014 - 2 eighths of a decade past 2010. Post was made at 14:46 which in GMT is 20:46 aka 8:46 and 46 is 8 times 8 reversed.

So yeah... That's obviously a sign it's an eighth April Fool's joke early.
