Hm... I see. Good find. :)

It appears that the eyes will probably turn that arrow on by stepping off their pressure plates if you wake them.

There are also "Vessels".
Don't know what they do or maybe they're just characters.

Weapons
• Some blunt stick thing (steam screenshot)

That appears to be the wooden sword from DROD RPG.

Stuff I’m Less Sure Of
• An effect that colorizes squares (see mrimer's screenshot here and the 'enormous chasm' screenshot on Steam )
• Toggling force arrows (EDIT: see steam trailer or next post)
• Some kind of fire trap squares (see steam trailer)
• What are those crystals?

Yeah, I'm surprised people haven't been discussing the background stuff in the trailer until recently. I left a comment a while back mentioning that people should look closer at the screens that flash by in the background (I wanted other people to get a look so they could draw their own conclusions)... the arrow and the fire traps are just part of it. There's also a green completion token on one (probably just a style change to better match with green doors), and in another there's a glowing yellow crystal (also seen on the art page, with one in a non-glowing state). The yellow crystal thing appears behind a green sister door, in a room with constructs and oremite patches.

I think that just looks like ceiling lights (look at the rocks). Not sure about the flashback screenshot though.

A realization about the pickaxe: it makes briar maturation order a lot more strategically relevant, whereas before it was pretty much only a curiosity. There's a qualitative difference between cutting new briar and mature briar, so you can use the pickaxe to control the speed of its expansion.

You throw a bunch of apples up in the air. Somehow, they are required to land on top of one another and you know that it has something to do with movement order.

It is still freaking ridiculous that it can and does. Thanks Larry.

So thanks for waiting until I was done with my finals guys, I would have horribly flunked my Differential Equations or Abstract Algebra exams if TSS came out during the past month.

But I'm done now, you can release the game whenever you want. :)

...

Please?

Congrats on wrapping up finals!

We're working really hard to finalize everything for the TSS release. We're still making changes every day or two though, including a few game logic tweaks, so it's still not a good time to push it out the door just yet.

I'll put this here, but I suggested in Caravelnet chat today it would be nice if after a certain amount of time has passed after release (Like a month or so) to do a postmortum live Q&A with any available developer similar to the first one we did talking about features.

I know the The Second Sky approaches faster each day, but I still have one question. It's not a big one, but I really want the answer. Because of reasons. And that question is:

Does TSS have the diagonal version of Ortho-squares? Or were they edged out by sweet time travel puzzles?

No, we do not have the diagonal version of ortho squares in 5.0. It was not edged out by time travel stuff. For better or worse, I think it was edged out by other elements that were in turn edged out.

Couldn't scripting be used to simulate this in a custom hold?

Last night I dreamt the TSS demo had been released. The first screen led to a secret room built in four dimensions: each time the player made a move, the whole screen (except Beethro) slid in one orthogonal direction...
Now I want to see this room very bad.

How many unrevealed new elements are there? The main page says "over a dozen", but about 10 have been spoiled (more if you count related groups of elements as multiple elements). These tend to be very conservative in their numbers though, see TCB's page saying it has "over 350 rooms" when in reality it's 500+, so maybe "over a dozen" really means something closer to "about 20." While it's nice to have information, I'm just hoping that the sense of discovery hasn't been diminished by reading this thread.

Obviously I'm not looking for an exact number, just a general idea of how much has been shown relative to how much there is.
