I love the fact that you can save at any time. Playing through the second part of the game felt like ToTS, but with all the tediousness shaved away.

Of course I loved the game in itself, although much more the second part.

I loved the way the story merged into the DROD universe. It felt great to see characters from TCB comming back and progressing their story.

And highscores will be really nice, once they are there. I bet it can be a lot of fun trying to figure out how that and that score was achived.

I love the potential of the level editor. Not because I think I will use it, but the thought of someone like Larrymurk using it is (to put it mildly) exciting.

I love the game itself.

I love the possibilities for the scripting engine - as with Blondbeard, I'm more a player than an architect, but it looks like some interesting holds should come out!

I love all the new music.

And I love the pocket roach. D' www.

I love how the game collapses back into DROD with a high attack and low defense - and sure enough, the "swordsman" has exactly these traits.

I love the new possibilities for mimic and door puzzles.

I love the mechanisms for encouraging a *low* HP at times.

I love the multiplier. Overwhelmed by needing to optimize across 7 levels? Don't worry - those attack pickups are only really significant if you pick them up soon.

I love Danforth's absence.

I definitely love the grappling hook. Can we have it in DROD, please? ;)

Boom-de-yada, etc.

Click-to-move is awesome awesome awesome. Any chance something like that can make it into real DROD? Now that I've tried it, I can't live without it.

YES. It'd have to change, somewhat (one move, in the direction of the click?) but it would be LOVELY, especially for laptop play.

At the very least for backtracking through conquered rooms it would be great. And I guess the maze level in KDD would be less of a pain.
I also could see the benefit of one step mouse movement in rooms not yet conquered for computers without numpad, especially if there should ever be a PDA port (Or is there already? I don't really know, but I guess I would have noticed such an awesome thing).

I like a lot of things, but one deserves it's own post:

Ctrl + direction.

I find that I use this so often that I don't think I can play another RPG hold without it.

Thanks man! That made the game so much more enjoyable. The time you have to spend just moving around is probably the thing I hate most in many RPGs

Yeah, the Ctrl-move thing really dovetails well with a metroid-vania style puzzle game. I find it much more useful than mouse-click navigation, even (not that I don't like the mouse-nav, too, o'course).

I like control-move so much that I can hardly play regular DROD anymore, since I constantly want to ctrl-move into the next room.
I'm not a fan of click-to-pathfind, however. (That's not saying that it wouldn't be useful on Level 13)

I love the dialogue, I love the variation on the title screen roaches, and I LOVE the music. TCB music was horrible in my opinion, and I'm pleased to say it's absolutely beautiful in TT.

I love the way that you can surpass obstacles found in DROD without thinking, like wall-walking and flippers. I think to myself, "Oh, what now, KDD Level 13 shrink-wrap size?"

go CTRL + 8,4,6 or 2, and marvel at the results.

Although it isn't very impressive if there isn't a exit in that direction.

I really like the new concept for the game, but I also love that new 'Build' script command. It can be of real help sometimes.

Also, I like the CTRL+Mouse command. Even more precise than CTRL+Direction. When I returned to TCB, I tried to use CTRL+Direction, but nothing... that's how much I enjoy that function! :P

Make that "latest full install of the Windows version" - you need a new drodrpg1_0.dat file which the patch doesn't include.

I'm not quite sure what you're expressing here. If you're wondering why the .dat file can't simply be patched, then yes -- it theoretically could, but then we'd need to support separate patches for the demo and full versions, and it would take a while to engineer them robustly. Also, I don't know how much space or (real) time it would end up saving people who'd like to patch. Anyone can re-download the full install, and the time spent downloading the full install might very well be less than the time a patcher would take to upgrade the .dat file, so I don't see a clear-cut win here either way.

What if it expired? What if (like me) you received no CaravelNet with DROD:RPG because of special circumstances? This has bugged me to no end and I have posted about it to no effect.

Getting back on topic:

Something I discovered recently is that if you engage a rattlesnake in combat by striking its tail, successfully defeating the rattlesnake doesn't remove the whole monster, but instead just the one tail segment, leaving the monster intact to be fought again.

Among other things, this means that if you have a long rattlesnake, a Lucky Blade, and immunity to rattlesnake attacks, you can get *a lot* of money - around 1000 greckles in Tendry's Tale: The Goblin Tribe: Thrice South Quarce East. This is quite useful when buying upgrades from the Machines. :)
