Actually, I checked. It was Fantasia 2000 - the Beethoven's 5th scene, with the butterflies.

The Pitch Drop Experiment. One of the oldest still continuing scientific experiments that started in the 1920s. Pitch tar in a funnel... and in ninety years, only eight drops have fallen.

Thought the tar angle was relevant :)

That was mentioned earlier in the thread.
From a pragmatic view, one would think that a kiwi smart enough to nail trees to a whole freaking cliff would be able to devise some sort of parachute so it could "fly" repeatedly. It does lessen the whole "aw he wanted it so badly he died for it and it was worth it :~( " aspect though.

I think Jatopian has a point here. The movie probably would have been stronger if the filmmaker hadn't decided to specifically reveal that the kiwi died, because as it stands the filmmaker's going for a cheap bittersweet ending just because he likes them.

Yeah good point.

I see it as representing everyone's battle in life to achieve one's dreams, and life does result in death, but the cause/consequence should have been decoupled in this clip.
