In Level 5 2N there's an achievement for clearing the room without hitting any orbs. Since Beethro also makes a comment about the orbs being unnecessary I assume the idea was to not use them at all, but the achievement and line gets triggered as long as you wait until all the roaches are dead before hitting the orbs.
There seems to be some ambiguity about what "clear" means in this context, but I think the achievement is kind of silly if it can trigger when Beethro is still in the eastern eye chamber. An easy fix is to wait to trigger the achievement and line until Beethro's x coordinate is 7 or less.

It already doesn't trigger the speech at least if you're in the eastern eye chamber when you kill the last eye. Don't know about the achievement, because I already have it.

But there's another bug here, since when you hit all the orbs and leave the chamber, you get the speech about unnecessary orbs as you reach the entrance.

EDIT: Also, given the questions about the secret room in L2 regarding Roach Queen spawning, perhaps this room should be redesigned slightly such that it becomes obvious that the Roach Queen does not spawn on trapdoors?

Here's a suggested revised layout:

It's impossible to get the queen out of its initial hideyhole now before the first spawn, but it allows the player to see that nothing spawns there. They still have to hit at least one other corner to get the queen out, but they're given a better opportunity to see the interaction without having to be told it outright.

It's a good reminder, but I think we're still going to have to tell them outright when we introduce roach queens. Couldn't hurt.

Definitely. You can't really expect people to pay attention to that kind of detail on their own. Also, I can't remember, is the queen's movement pattern explained anywhere? Because again, that may be obvious to anyone used to it, but to newcomers...

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I seem to be having trouble saving my progress (that is, when I close the browser and reopen it I have to start again from scratch). I'm using Firefox (latest version). Could anyone tell me what security/privacy settings I need to set to enable me to keep my progress?

Normally if you right-click in the game's window you should have access to "parameters" or "settings" and be able to grant the program some access to local storage.

Apparently that should be the case but I only have 3 tabs on settings instead of the expected 5, and the local storage tab is not one of them:

I could have sworn we'd already discussed this on the beta board and made this change.

Indeed:
TFMurphy: That reminds me: L5 2N's script was kinda bad in the original. It only waited until you conquered the room, and then Beethro would said the orbs were unnecessary... even if he was already completely locked in and needed them to get out.

I suggest changing both the speech and achievement to only be awarded if he isn't in the easternmost chamber or past the Force Arrow leading up to said chamber.

That's weird. Maybe it's something blocked directly by Firefox, you may want to check that. And do other flash apps have the same behaviour? And do you ahve the latest version (although that'd require you to have a vey, very outdated one.

There seems to be a minor glitch where the game locks up when you spam click achievements on the achievements screen.

When viewing the window showing all the achievements, one may click on one of said achievements, and the pop-up little box appears at the side, as if that achievement had just been achieved. As this box shows exactly the same as what is in the main window but in a slightly different format (other than non-achieved achievements being greyed in the main window), there doesn't seem to be any reason for this functionality.

It's an old, never removed debug. I have already removed it after reyll3's post, but this change will only come-in after next update.

And what about the possibility to relive that glorious moment when you first got the achievement in question? Now you can feel that any time you want with just a click of your mouse!

If anything that feature should be enhanced, with heavenly light and a choir singing in Latin each time you click on a completed achievement.

Before I give this a spin, I have a question.

Have any plans to implement some sort of Hold Editor or is this going to only be a DROD you can play?

Congratulations on this regardless.

There's not much you can do in FDROD that you can't do in normal DROD, and we don't want two competing standards for room size.

By the way, is this page (with the 3 episodes of FDROD) going to stay up indefinitely. Because I don't really want to tell my friends to go play it if the game disappears after a while.

I had private browsing on - turning this off gave me access to the local storage settings. Unfortunately, it's still not saving my progress so I guess I'll just have to finish each part without closing the browser. I've done part 1, and I've got the achievements listed on my profile so I'm happy enough with that for now. Would still like to know how to get it to work though...

Generally it's a problem of flash and not being able to reproduce it or experiment with it on your computer ties my hands almost completely. Panther had similar problems and, in the end, she resolved them by downloading a debug Flash Player Projector (an executable in which you can play SWFs) and, I think, telling it to open the SWF from the site.

Yes, modern browsers also have an option of clearing so called "Flash Cookies", and doing so clears all of your flash saved information. Some browsers have a setting to do it automatically on closing them, and you can't say for sure there isn't a browser which has it ON by default.

So, some browsers can delete these Flash Cookies when clearing the browser's history.

I'm back with a new question.

I can't seem to track down where this so-called leaderboard is. As in, there's nothing in-game to take me to it and there's nothing on any of the pages I've looked to take me there.

Just WHERE is it if you can actually view it now?

Thank you!!! It was a firefox setting to delete everything when I closed the browser - this was overriding the Flash options. I've turned this off and now my progress is saving correctly :)

Nice! Congrats to everyone involved!

The only thing is that sometimes the scroll text is a bit difficult to read - perhaps an option to zoom it somewhere?

The only leaderboard I've found is the individual room one. When you hit "enter" you'll see the top scores for that individual room.

Ladies and Gentleman.

I'd like to dedicate this version, 1.1.6, to Mike as a birthday gift, because he is so awesome creating DROD and stuff.

There were quite some changes in this version including:
- More help to the restore screen;
- More help in general;
- Fixing the issue of the spontaneous hold mastery;
- Tweaks to the way key repeat works plus a new option in the menu;
- All master 1S should now be properly scorable;
- Some small tweaks and fixes;
- Russian language by Maurog!
The new version should be available on the old pages, you might have to do a hard refresh though.

Enjoy!

That's awesome! I've taken the time to register on Newgrounds, rate the game and write some sort of a review. Hopefully if more people do that it might get some positive attention on the site!
