As the saying goes, great minds think alike. But do we have any great minds in this forum? Or are you the type of person who always seems to be the odd one out in a crowd?
You'll need to balance these ideas in this contest. Listed at the bottom of this post are 8 simple questions. For each question, you will submit two answers - one that you think will be the most common response, and one that you think will be the least common.
Now wait, I hear you say, why don't I just submit random gibberish for my least common answer? Ah, that won't do - your answers must be correct!
What to do
To participate in this contest, submit your answers in the following format:
[unhidetime=05/19/2008 12:00 PM]
1)
Most common
Least common
2)

..

Deadlines
Entries must be submitted by
Local Time:05-19-2008 at 11:00 AM, which means you have
negative 830 weeks, 2 days. For those eagle eyed, yes, this is two hours before results will show up, just to make sure nothing goes wrong.
You may edit your post as long as it is before the deadline. Any posts posted or edited after the deadline will be disqualified.
Scoring
Each of your correct answers will be awarded a number of points equal to the number of times that answer was given among all participants. Thus, if you correctly answer 'Banana' to question 1, and you are the only person to do so, that is worth 1 point. If three other people also say 'Banana', you will receive 4 points for that question.
In the event that one of your answers is incorrect, it will be given a score equal to the worst score received on that question by anyone else.
Your final score will be the sum of your 'Most common' scores minus the sum of your 'Least common' scores. Since you are trying to make that first sum as large as possible, and the second sum as small as possible, the higher final score the better.
Ambiguities
It is up to the judge's (which is me) discretion which answers shall be recognised as equivalent, and which answers shall be recognised as incorrect. If someone answers 'Banana' and someone else answers 'Bananas', I decide whether they are equal or not.
I will post results soon after the deadline. Any complaints about ambiguities can then be lodged in this thread; if I see your request before the winners must be submitted, and agree with your argument, the results may be altered.
In the event of a tie for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, ties will be broken by time of submission (or last edit). So get your entries in quick!
Prizes
First, second, and third place will receive 3, 2 and 1 mod points respectively.
