I refuse your labels!

I DROD for all of these reasons, to various degrees. The one option that's in the greatest proportion would have to be "designing puzzles" though.

Hmmm... maybe I should have made it a voting poll. For me it's a clear answer: optimizing. I dabbled in hold building, but I've always been more of a problem solver, rather than figuring out problems to solve. While I do like solving rooms, I also like resolving the same room 5.. 10.. 25 times just to try to knock out a few moves. And I tend toward lurking over active participation on CaravelNet.

I think I'd have to vote "other". I like optimizing--I don't live for it, though. I like playing some rooms, but at other times I stop playing because I can't beat a room, or I don't like the way it looks.

I am not a good architect, by any stretch of the imagination.

The reason I play is because I haven't found a game that's better.

I like exploring. Not just in the sense of "let's see all the pretty places", but more like "let's explore in what ways a puzzle can be solved". Both bring me a sense of wonder.

Because it's fun and because figuring out puzzles is a great joy to me. That and getting frustrated horribly, to the point of smashing time, then doing it 30 more times and actually finally getting it right is immensely satisfying.

To conquer all the rooms, all the games, all the everything! It's just one (well, three) on a list of several thousand games I'm working my way through. Not hurriedly mind, I'm making sure I experience everything they have to offer. (Un)fortunately DROD has so many levels when you factor in all the holds I might be here a while

I play Drod to make evil puzzles. But now that I found a cool device on my computer that can play movies (on the computer!) I only have time to play user holds once in a while.
