Greetings my fellow Drodmaniacs,
I have been playing DROD for 2 years, 6 months, 23 1/2 days, fifteen hours, 32 minutes and 68 seconds. Good counting hey?
And i typed DROD in on google and i found this website. Then i joined up straight away. So after all of that could someone be kind enough to point me in the right direction

Where do you want us to point you?

Greetings, by the way. I sure hope you'll contribute to the community in a positive way - our forum, as a whole, is very accepting of newcomers. :)

:hi to the forums! Downloads is a good place to start, and if you want a more complete DROD experience you can buy a CaravelNet membership through here. Also, if you want to introduce yourself more in-depth, we have the Questionnaire and Arnold threads. :)

I wouldn't really recommend your etiquette thread, Mr. Slice.
You'll definitely want to check the Holds page, which is linked to on the download page. Also the FAQ.

Hi 625th Stalwart - welcome to the forums!

I have to admit that I was taken aback a bit by your name the moment I saw it - it took me a few seconds before I realized what was wrong with it. I think I've been spending too much time lately thinking about stalwarts...

The correct way was actually this:

<----. This way: ---->, would have led you off a cliff. The other way, <----, is going to lead you straight into The Caravel Building.

No, he's right. ----> is an error, because the postfix form of -- takes an lvalue and returns an rvalue. Two in a row is illegal.

However, <---- is perfectly fine, because the prefix form both takes and returns rvalues.

Then he's just used an analogy: use ----> and you fall off the cliff of syntax errors, and if you use <---- you wind up in the Caravel Building of Successfully Compiled Code (the Wing of Telling Other People how to compile is still under development).

625th Stalwart didn't say he wanted to be pointed in the left direction, though. ;)

Hi 625th Stalwart. Tell me, how did you become 625th stalwart? I though only the empire affixed numbers to its workers, not the stalwart army.

And Banj, now you know why some jokes just aren't supposed to be made. :( I mean, seriously people.

Well, I consulted with 38th Patron (one of the few Patrons, thankfully, who can speak normal English), who is helping me out with a small project. He said, and I quote: "The Empire does not "affix numbers to its workers". The Empire's citizens are productive and orderly and have names that reflect that. Even though the abovegrounders are barbarians, they must still have some dim sense of the Empire's superiority, and thus, It is not surprising that some abovegrounders may decide to emulate the Empire's naming practices."

And Banj, now you know why some jokes just aren't supposed to be made. :( I mean, seriously people.

Nah, the joke was worth making. That there are people in this forum who don't know when to leave something alone is not Banjooie's fault.

Then can you teach me to know when that happens?

Immediately after Banj gets anywhere near it is usually a good time :)

For you, it seems it's mostly just before you click the 'Send Reply' button.
