Quick thought...

What does everyone find the hardest element to design cool rooms with? Some seem to be quite straightforward - a brain usually leads to cool puzzles, as does a snake in some way. Same for oremites. But what about other elements that make it hard? Can you design a decent briar puzzle? Or an original puzzle using tar? How about a wubba puzzle?

What's the hardest component to use as a main puzzle component?

Invisibility potion, by far.

Wubba puzzles are certainly doable; I've made three.

Mmmm, yeah. Those are a bit of an annoyance. Though oddly, reading this thread has given me an idea...

Stalwarts ; they're kind of random.

It's Stawarts for me too. Not because they're random, but because you have almost no influence at all over what they're doing.

I agree - in order to use them well, you have the additional need to make it extremely obvious what they are doing.

Not true. You can:

-kill monsters
-kill the Stalwart
-close doors
-move NPCs and yourself in the way of the sword
-explode bombs
-use decoys to move other monsters closer to the Stalwart

It's still, in my opinion, way less influence than on most other elements(it's true though, builders are one of the exceptions).

Oh, there are amusing uses of them. I currently have a room where the goal is to open a door between an Aumtlich and a Stalwart. A Stalwart will not normally strike a bomb... but if confused and blinded by an Aumtlich beam, he will rotate blindly... and strike a bomb.

*evil grin* Cannon fodder, anyone?

The Roach, definitely. With new elements it's easy to make interesting rooms. But with roaches, you really need to be creative to make something new out of it.

I'm gonna have to go with stalwarts... They're dumb as beans, which can sometimes be a challenge in itself. ;)

I'm gonna go with invisibility potion. I've made at least one puzzle with almost all others mentioned.
