Doesn't seem to be in the list of fixes for 3.1 (may not even be a bug)

If you start your room with your sword on an orb, it has immediate effect (i.e. all the affected doors are open/closed/toggled immediately).

The same is not true if you enter on a pressure plate. If you are standing on a pressure plate that opens an immediately adjacent door (and there's no other tile to step on) you have no choice but to leave the room (so it's not just a question of it being the normal atypical room entry behaviour- when eyes can't see you, bombs don't go off etc).

This seems to me to be unintended, after all, Beethro is standing on the pressure plate.

This might be intentional. From what I remember of the code, I'm pretty sure it is intentional that a pressure plate considers itself "currently pressed" but doesn't fire its actions on turn zero if (non-flying) monsters are on it. So I guess it's somewhat consistent to treat the player the same, even though the player really did just step onto it. But if this is a problem for room design, don't put pressure plates at the edge of that room.

But it doesn't become activated at any turn following turn 0 either. One must actively step onto it while in the room, rather than be standing on it (which is not consistent for example with placing a mimic directly on a pressure plate). But yes, as you say, this is not a major issue if you don't put pressure plates at room entrances.

I agree that this is unintuitive and needs fixing. We allow some things not to happen on turn 0 for good reason; e.g. if monsters moved or bombs went off, the player could be trapped in a game-crashing loop of dying. This is not the case here.
