Actually, you're both wrong. You must remember that the denizens of the Eighth speak not English, but Simpuhl English. They are similar, but subtly different. In SE, the present passive form of any verb is formed by adding 'ed' at the end. Its simpuhler that way. So the present passive tense of smite, in SE, is smited.

Past tense is 'smote'.
Past participle is 'smitten'.
Used in a sentence:

I smote the roach.
OR
I have smitten the roach.

The proper text of that dialog box is:
Every time you click this bar, a roach is smitten.

So yes, it should be smitten, but it's not always smitten.

Hurray! Someone cares about grammatical correctness! Pineapple Pinnace, you have struck hope in my heart. Or should that be "stricken"? Well, the dictionary says that either is acceptable.

Grammatically, the passive form is being in the sentence in question (Every time you click this bar, a roach is ...), and the situation is complicated. Let's tranfer the sentence to the active form:

Every time you click the bar, (someone or something) smites the roach.

The past participle form is usually used for passive verbs. The dictionary (Merriam-Webster), as well as other sources I've looked at, says that you can do either "smote" or "smitten". So I advocate CaravelNet's movement towards grammatical ambiguity (and therefore a movement towards grammatical correctness.)

However, smote is also the past tense of "to smite", thus creating a bit of confusion. Another example of this is "to bring" (I brought, I had brought).

About "a roach is smited": I'm ashamed.

Just to tell you, after i clicked the bar, it showered my screen with DROD monsters! There's a huge goblin, queen-riding goblins, eyes, wubbas on my icons, and a tar mother on the incomplete part of the bar! This isn't fixable, and i guess unintended. It only happens if you're autist, young, that your username is Jeff_ray... and that you have tons of uncompleted projects, but Agaricus5 breaks the flowing river of craziness.


Indeed, my computer is french... jo it's maybe another reason the the herd to come and play there.

What people says about my thing? Indeed, it all started with the tar baby appearing. I heard a fart. Then, a seep appears and the tar baby come out of the screen. Then, a roach jumped out, then a bar hole uncorked, causing a shower of monsters. Then, what was in the pic appeared.

I've been clicking, poking, and stroking (heheh) the bar like something rotten, getting a good couple of hundred under my belt. I was addicted this time. Maybe because of the new messages, and it looked like it was fun so I kept on clicking.

I was whispering "you're bad", in it's ear, but it didn't whisper back at me. "You've been getting more clicks from other people!!! We have to break up this relationship!!!". So I'm done with her (for at least 24 hours). I was wondering why she was so secretive, why wasn't she giving me goodness...

Since you have to be registered to gently tap the bar, I wonder if all individual taps are counted. Also I would like that the word "click" and such variants are refrained from use and should be changed to taps or prods, for clicking sounds too violent, and I have never clicked the bar too hard, regardless of who tar baby that was (wasn't mine...).

The percentage points roughly correspond to 1/100th of the work that goes into making the game. Some parts might get done more quickly than others. For instance, Point 51 is added thanks to team members having built several new rooms. The next percentage point might take more or less time than this one did. Also, Erik's initial Adams Number threw the accuracy off a bit, but I'm going to work from that point anyway.

About the 350 thing: The more important thing to notice is that there are down red gates, as in they'll go up when all the trapdoors are dropped.

I seem to have a penchant for bar-related literature.

POLITICAL AD:

Every time you click the bar...
The bar is poked.
A line of code is added.
A roach is smitten and/or smote.
An hour goes by.

The bar started on about Nov 6th, 2004, or about 32 days ago, according to sources who have wished to remain anonymous. About 29 days ago, the click counter started.

Currently, there are about 15646 clicks. This implies a whopping 540 clicks per day, or 23 clicks per hour (using sig figs). There are 1/23 hours per click. The interval between clicks is about 2.6 minutes (1/23 hours).

If that's so, then how can an hour go by in 2.6 minutes?

It also should be noted that 15646 hours is about 650 days. However, this is about 22.4 times more than the sole 29 days that have passed.

I seems as though the DROD team is flawfully inconsistent -- that is, a gaffe occurs when they get things right.

Vote for Tetris... they are credible enough to be consistent.
