I want to make it more so that part of the contest gets a bit more play but I need to convince Schik and it's low on my list of priorities. Plus I don't want to flood the system.

Someone Else's guess is neither higher nor lower than the bar's current clickedness*, so why is it listed as lower?
Unless you mean the absolute value, but he didn't specify |0 + 1i|, but since he didn't, it should really be off to the side somewhere.

I'm worried that people will take my guess as some kind of inside knowledge, but I don't have anything beside a much more detailed understanding of why the bar is at its current percentage. This doesn't give me control over future events, and I want to participate, so I'll guess 299,000.

If you guess one more than someone else you essentially steal their guess. It doesn't matter how many clicks you're under the bar, so long as when the bar stops you were the highest guess under the bar. (That, and any guesses made a week or less before TCB comes out don't count, so stealing another person's guess in order to be the last person standing just isn't a good idea.)
