This is a nasty one as it actually puts DROD in an infinite loop.

If you get killed in the middle of a cutscene which is triggered at the same time you step on a checkpoint, DROD will naturally enough load the checkpoint... triggering the cutscene,and your death. Which means DROD will load the checkpoint, you'll die, and so forth.

I found this in Drod Tester 1:9N... demo included

The easiest solution might be to not mark a checkpoint as somewhere you can restore to until any cutscene started there has completed?

I'm going to post a mention on the hold thread and the H&S for this room as well, though certainly this hold isn't to blame its the most likely (almost the only?) place for this to occur as far as I know.

EDIT: even if you don't die, restore is broken when you step on a checkpoint and immediately trigger a cutscene. The cutscene plays immediately on restore preventing you from restoring more than one stage back using 'r'. The menu still works fine.

This also suggests the solution would involve the slightly unintuitive state of a checkpoint restoring to right AFTER a cutscene triggered while stepping on it, so restore works properly.

Maybe checkpoints just shouldn't trigger during cutscenes?

Yes, that makes the sounds the best. When I have done a long cutscenes I am not always aware of my checkpoints at the same time. This is an interesting problem.

I concur. On any turn where a cutscene is beginning or is in progress, checkpoints won't activate in build 83+.

This issue also can occur when a cutscene starts upon room entry that leads to player death. This situation is a bit more difficult to remedy.
