My new hold! (For the architects' edition) It has 20 levels and it has a story that tells Beethro wants the treasure of the Kign Dungeon, and nothing can stop him!

If this was mrimer saying "Here is King Dugans Dungeon for Architects Edition and it has been slightly modified" i think i would accept this, but copying holds just doesn't work. I liked it, but thats only because i like KDD, sorry but no copying holds.

Yes... I'm surprised by the obvious copies on the first level. I have played my way to sixth level, and so far I can say that the rooms are decent, but quite often too tedious for my taste. (run through lots of tunnels, crush crumbly walls, kill tons of roaches...) The room which felt most original and fun was the trapdoor puzzle on level two.

Only JtRH and TCB must never be copied. You can use KDD however you want, as it's from AE, and you can use anything from AE without permission. I'm even doing a remake of Dugan's dungeon, even though I only work once in a while.

EDIT: Ok, you can't use OTHER AE holds, though, but KDD is fine.

You can use KDD however you want without permission.

You cannot use any parts of TCB, JtRH, or other Smitemaster's Selections without getting permission from part of the Caravel Team.

You cannot use any parts of user-made holds published on the Holds Board without the permission of that author.

So, feel free to modify works of others with their permission - it's not a blanket denial of your ability to do so as Jeff says, it's just that you shouldn't go around copying others if they don't want you to.

Are you using Architect's Edition?

I'm using Journey to Rooted Hold and in that version of DRoD the tar babies mostly stay at the bottom of the screen. I watched your demo and notice that it says in the upper right corner "This demo is ... from another version of DRoD with different gameplay behavior.".


In some of the early levels Beethro goes through a number of rooms to clear the level and then must go all the way back to the first room to exit. I don't much care for that.

Also, in level 2 I went north from the entrance and cleared all of those rooms and then had no way to go to the room to the east of the entrance.

There aresome other copies in the hold, in episode 18: copies of KDD level 18 and 19, and there is a level 2 room in level 19, get to it and you gonna know wich room...

Mostly I am liking what I am seeing. You have made some good rooms in this hold.

I am downloading the new version now. Playing under AE I am at Episode 14: 1N1E. Unless I am not seeing something, there is no way for Beethro to leave this room.

Level 17, 1 north. The green door drops but you can't go through. I've complete all rooms to S,W & E, but the blue doors don't drop.

n Ep.17: 2N it is impossible to kill all the roach queens. Within the first 4 moves there are two queens in the upper right corner and the arrows do not allow Beethro to kill the topmost queen and leave.

When leaving this room to go back to Ep.17: 1N, Beethro is trapped in One North as he is unable to drop the yellow gates to be able to move farther south.

Today I downloaded this version of your hold. I have played this hold today from the beginning up to level 17: 2N.

I'm sorry but I don't believe this room is fixed. If the arrows were just a bit different, the room would be possible.

If you can kill all the roaches and leave the room, please upload a demo. Perhaps I can learn a new technique here.

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news. This demo (when I watch it) has Beethro getting trapped on the force arrow. There is a message displayed: "This demo is corrupted or from another version of DROD with different gameplay behavior.".

The version of AE that I am using is the one currently available from Caravelgames' own website. At some point something was changed in the way the game works.

No one who has only JTRH or TCB can finish your hold. And now it looks as if people who download AE cannot complete your hold.

I can see that you have put a lot of effort into this hold.

In level 19 I cannot get the blue door to drop.

I have been to:

1N1W, 1N, 1N1E
1W, Entrance, 2W
1S1W, 1S, 1S1E, 1S2E
2S, 2S1E, and 2S2E.

Is there another room on the level? Perhaps the doorway to that room is missing?

I fixed the hold, I didn't fixed it before 'cause my computer had so many failings and I needed to send it to fix it. Now the level is fixed. And the room that you missed is a secret one that I created for fun, he he, and I used the required room option, sorry :D

Episode 20: 2N2E appears to be impossible in its present form.

There is no way to drop all the trapdoors as some of them have arrows on them which prevent moving onto them. Placing the mimic in the lower open square makes all the trapdoors to the right drop before Beethro can get there. Placing the mimic in the upper open square means Beethro must kill the roach which leaves him trapped in the group of arrows.

A necromancer is a sorcerer of sorts who communicates with and/or revives the dead. In the case of online forums though, it's someone who revives an old topic, usually one that's months or years old. Necro-posting is another common related term.
