I suggest No Gore/Blood/Slayer remains mode set in the main menu.
Why?
Becuase some people dont like blood and gore and slayer remains, And were losing votes just for it.
You see, some people dont like viloance, And its pretty annoying to have blood splatter somewere with those annoying rooms like this:

R R
| W
B
Beethro = B
Wall = W
Sword = |
And Roach is R, and there are millions of roaches behind them.
Not good.
And i think it might increase peformance (no little pixels of red flowing out)
So thats why this should be a feature in DROD

Isn't that something that's already in the Player Settings screen?

Edit: I have no DROD right now (away from that compy) so I can't check myself.

Actually, somebody already had this great idea and made a modification that does exactly that when installed. :)

But that just turns the blood grey. What I think Anson means is to make it so that nothing comes out when you kill the monsters.

Isn't there a variable in the drod.ini file that modifies the number of gibs?

If there isn't, there should be.

Didn't it used to be an option? But, yeah, this is a terrific suggestion. I was showing the game to my young nieces and nephews this week and was just in fact wishing for this feature.

I actually couldn't get this game for the computer lab in 6th grade because it was called 'Deadly Rooms of Death'.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if it was called a "computer lab" why did you think you were entitled to play games or install non-standard software there? :huh

It was an after-school Boys & Girls Club place, and the computer lab guy was asking if we had any ideas for good games.

Heh...I remember having to explain about "Deadly Rooms of Death" at the Slamdance Festival January 2007. While sitting on the discussion panel for Columbine RPG, I had to explain how our game called "Deadly Rooms of Death" is, in fact, just a puzzle game. :P

Now for some more trivia --

There's never been a way to modify the number of giblets (mmm...turkey giblets...) in DROD. It would be very simple work to make a mod that just uses a swath of empty 192-grey tiles for the particles, making them effectively invisible.

But if anyone wants to modify the current codebase to support an INI option to modify the percentage of gibs to display or something like that, I wouldn't be opposed to adding it. Code monkeys...go!

Oh, my - that must've been... "interesting"... to say the least... :D

Oh, okay then... :)

I guess I was just startled because I had to watch over a computer lab for almost 5 years and wasn't always amused by the damage done by "creative" students (of the university variety, no less)...

Heh, often when I have described DROD to others, I have said "the name is the most violent part."
