2006 Summer/Fall Smitemaster's Selection

About Master Locks/Master Locks Expert-

I created two difficulty levels so that more people can enjoy the hold at a level they enjoy. If you prefer high difficulty you might want to play the Expert version first since the normal version will often give hints as to what needs to be done in the Expert version.

Credit goes to-

Testers AlefBet, Briareos, Doom, Eytanz, michthro, wallu

Matt(Schik): What can you say, the monkey has a hand in everything.

Mike(mrimer): The man is busy on TCB yet he still put unending effort into this hold.

Erik(ErikH2000): Without Erik there'd be no story, actually there'd be no DROD.

Larry(larrymurk): I'm the architect.

Further credit-

Lock 3: 3E is a rework of one of Doom's creations.

Voice acting-

Beethro: Sten Ryason
Receptionist: Elfstone

Gah! I have CaravelNet, yet only Master Locks Expert is showing up in the download list. Where's Normal?

I can see both versions just fine. And am also unable to tell why you're seeing only one of them.

You could try to close and start DROD again, and/or look at the list once more carefully. If all else fails, there's always the Purchases tab in your profile where you can download the hold file manually and import it just like any other hold.

Mastered! Great hold! Finally, something that makes you scratch, but doesn't kill your brain! I'm worried about that last tar room in the expert one though.

So I just started Beethro Budkin Forever Master Locks, and it's pretty promising so far. No rating yet, but it's worth the wait.

Isn't Nethkept Armanent the same building that was in Beethro's Teacher?

No, the building in BT was "Nethkept Emanent"

Oh. I assumed that the building in BT was just some sort of entrance to the Armament. I guess I was wrong.

Hmm... So judging from the name of the building (in BT), it's like some sort of signal that the Armanent is eminent.

Brilliant, but I question whether it's a good idea to have a room in an official hold that pretty much depends on having a custom serpent timer?

Mastered.

This one is a 9, with four brains of difficulty. At least, it didn't seem that difficult to me.

The last room is a stroke of genius.

Rooms I loved:

I'm now working my way though Master Locks Expert which is awesome but a good bit harder. Given the chance to do it over again, I think I'd still do Master Locks first -- it seems like doing the Expert version first would make the experience of the easier version much less interesting, while in this case the Expert version is still quite hard enough.

(I'm currently stuck on Lock 2: 1N and Lock 3: 1N2E)

Typically larrymurkish, while still unique. I gave it an 8 for overall raiting, with a 5 for difficulty. A great hold, but not quite as great as the holds I've given a 9. I like the expert version better, though ;)

The story and voice acting is as usual incredible. I really liked Elfstones preformance.

We're on a roll this month. Another excellent hold. Keep up the good work Larry.

I don't agree, a timer might be helpful, but definatly not required. Anyone who has played through the ssslitherin holds should be able to manage the few snake rooms without too many problems.

Onwards to Expert.

Thanks
Steve.

Great hold! I'm slowly plowing though some rooms, but I am making progress.

This is a fairly easier larry hold, beisdes for Easy or Hard. :P

For now I award this hold with 5.5 brains, and a 9.5 rating! Keep the holds comming!! :D

If I were to mention that Larrymurk himself said Slitherin basically requires a serpent timer clock, would it be worth my while?

I'm sure they're easier with a serpent timer, but I mastered both Ssslitherin and Ssslitherin Expert using the stock timer. So it can be done...

Same here. I did try a serpent timer once, but it didn't look as nice so I stuck with the clock and can work out where in the sequence I am by allowing a snake to move and using backspace.

Mastered. Only one question: Does this mean we'll reach TCB in only 1/2 day more? 'Cause I really want to play it.

Just conquered/mastered this one now.

I approve greatly. This was a well done hold, a larrymurk classic. The puzzles were challenging, harder than Smitemastery 101, but still mostly doable. It also taught me a lot about snake movement, with the help of forum members.

That said, I'm personally not a huge fan of snake movement puzzles, but these ones were well done.

This one gets a 9 for fun and 7 brains.

Just played and mastered the hold. Nice hold.

Most of the rooms were either serpent rooms or movement order. I'm having a sense of deja vu here since I've just played my own holds on those subjects.

I'm glad that it's not that hard though, as I could play this hold without a serpent timer (but as you know I'm quite good with serpent manipulation...)

Brilliant voice acting in here, all of them. :thumbsup

Brilliant hold. (and 2nd SS mastered)

I had a lot of fun with this. Most of the rooms rely on monster movement tricks, especially snakes, so I was able to play this hold without too much difficulty. The scrolls also added a nice touch. Now time to work my way through the expert version :P
