I request a way to rotate obstacles in the editor. There is some demand for it.

Sure, just bear in mind that it will require redrawing each obstacle at least 4 times, at most 8, and it would break the current way of selecting obstacles.

90-degree image rotation is a trivial task requiring all of 30 seconds, if that, and the current way of selecting obstacles is hardly an integral part of the interface.

Yes, but the Emporer statue (probably the obstacle needed to be rotated here) was drawn specifically with the overhead view in mind - it would look lopsided if you turned it to face North because of the slope involved with the weird view DROD uses.

Now, I don't actually see any problem with flipping it so it points West instead of East, but North and South are definitely out.

Of course its simple to do that, I mean, look!

True, but care to suggest an alternative which doesn't make that layer too big?

I think that image needs to go down. NiroZ. Sorry. :(

Yeah, but, you see, this makes it look like the statue's leaning to the right. Also, the shadow then points the wrong way.

I'm agreeing with Ezlo here - it's clearly stated you're not allowed to modify Caravel's graphics in any way - and this is just rotation of an already existing image.

Yeah, I'll edit out that picture.

This is a great excuse to bring up this picture, showing a real world example of why the obstacles can't just be simply rotated. Check out them crazy buildings!

Although I don't mind the removal of the image, or the reason for it, I am baffled as to where it is clearly stated.

And even for the obstacles which don't use perspective, remember that they have shadows, which may get messed up if you try rotating them in code. And if you notice certain obstacles are about the same shape any way you turn them and start coding to turn the obstacle and leave the shadow put... whoops, you broke some graphical mods and restricted new ones. So any turning like this would need to be done by people, added to much larger data files, making it even more confusing to maintain the code about obstacles and make mods. Probably not worth it.
