Okay, mine was orignally going to be a party member sytem ala Paper Mario, but due to the level and room limits I changed it to a inventory system. Remarkably both are very similar in construction. :yes

I have an idea but I don't know how to program it.

I want to have a character be visible whenever Beethro is not facing north.

I tried this:


label top
appear
wait for player to face north
disappear
wait for sword swing
goto top


It seems that the disappear makes the character go away forever. Woe is me. Any ideas?

Disappear doesn't make the character disappear forever. Add a "wait 1 turn" command before the goto and the script will almost work, except that there will be a 1-turn lag between sword-turning and the character's appearance.

I'd suggest posting this in the bugs forum.

I can't find anything in the rules pro or against help, but if Jason wants I'll delete my above post.

I will not be entering this contest, mostly because going back to DROD 2.0 scripting after using TCB seem somewhat painful :). But I'm very interested in seeing the results. And I'm willing to help anyone who has scripting issues (not with ideas, but with debugging scripts).

It's the same thing - having an invisible character is just the same as having a visible character and setting the first command to "disappear".

Most likely, Schik or another admin will PM you that you are able to. Then, when you go to create a new topic, there will be a selectable box labeled, appropriately enough, 'Submission Topic'.

At least that's how it was for me...

As Silver pointed out in the bug thread I opened, using "wait 0" instead of "wait 1" makes for a perfectly operating widget.

Because it was redundant - I first suggested an improvement that did half the work, then I realized that changing "wait 1" to "wait 0" would make the original solution perfect without the need for the further changes I proposed. And since I don't know if Larry gets his posts by email or not, I figured I'd rather write a new post so he's certain to see it instead of editing my old one and possibly leading him astray.

1. Rules are rules - you'll just have to condense it into 4 rooms.

2. Sure! I think that qualifies as a widget, or at least technology (a mechanical implementation of the historically-played X Game)

The four rooms can be assembled however you like, but it must be four rooms.

Yes. Games are fine to create if a DROD version of it hasn't already been made and it is a game the user can play.
