I figured it wasn't a problem, seeing as JtRH lets you click on eyes to see where they look.

But you're right, I'll change that particular room to regular tiles to make it easier.

I don't see where there's a problem. You don't need to take any notice of the eyes, it's just a matter of running back and forth 23 times, which is what makes it tedious.

4.

Also, you kinda want to avoid waking up the ones by the queens, or they'll spawn more roaches than they would otherwise. But I do agree there's not much incentive.

I forgot about clicking. But keep the tiles the same and just post a scroll saying to remember that. That way it looks good.

New version has been uploaded! Level VIII with its many potion puzzles is up, and more content has been put in a couple of other rooms.

Kill one roach per decoy. And you're gonna want to be quick or you're going to run out of potions.

2 queens and 2 roaches to start with, plus 7 spawned roaches, equals 11. How do you kill 11 roaches with 10 potions?

Actually, preliminary versions of the two level 6 secret rooms also had pathways like that. It's an attempt to explain why rooms are there, in that the "intended" pathway would be through that passageway, but instead you got there by breaking the walls instead. It makes the cracks look unintentional. Anyway, it didn't look all that good, so I took them out.

I'm still not seeing it. I can't figure out how to lessen the odds. Looks like me sleeping on it for a second night, though the 1.5 hours of broken sleep I had last night wasn't exactly sleeping on it. :?

Level 9, (apart from once being an excellent source of text adventures), seems out of place, being one of the easiest levels so far. It ought to be earlier in the hold.

A couple of rooms could be made more challenging because they are simply boring otherwise - 2N1E and 1S, the latter more so, though it is possible to get stuck in that one.

Is that a Pacman ghost I see in 1N3E. :)

BTW, I never did manage to figure out how to do 1N3E in level 8.

Hmm, gee. I had played through several of the rooms (especially that efficiency one - that took lots of tuning), but I didn't really think they were *that* easy. Could you give me some demos to some of the rooms you thought were really easy, so I could see why?

Unfortunately not. Because I can't finish level 8, I had to play level 9 in the editor.

Edit: I just replayed the efficiency room and it can easily be done with 7 moves spare.

Well, I know I'm not nearly as efficient as many other people out there, so I just set the timer at how fast I could do it.

Kill a roach every turn, then rush to the other room, turn around, and kill the other roach queen before it spawns.

I guess I am just too dumb for this one. If I let the roaches spawn, that gives me 9 roaches and two queens, because I still don't see how to make them spawn only 6 roaches.

I agree - it is not possible to get to any of the decoy potions before the first spawn - the best you can do is one move short (stepping on the potion the move of the spawn - but the spawn happens before you get to place the decoy). And if you let the queens spawn, you will always have at least 7 roaches spawning, making 9 roaches and 2 queens to kill with 10 decoys.

*sigh* I'll have to take a look at the room. I explicitly remember it being possible, but maybe I'm wrong. Just don't expect the next update to be, ya know, instantaneous. I've become busy.

No hurry, it's only been six weeks since I first mentioned that room. ;) Still, I get to play it through again from level 3 seeing as that's all there is in the copy of JtRH I retrieved from my laptop.

I have been playing this through from the beginning on the most recent version. I have reached a dead end on Level V in that the blue door doesn't drop. In editor mode, there is a second stair entrance in 2N, 2E that is required. It connects to Level VI. The one in 3W which connects to Level 1 is not required. The one that you are supposed to use in 1S, 1E also is not accessible because of blue door.

Also, Level VII, 1N, 3E appears to be a dead end. You can get back to 3E but then there is nowhere that you can go. Probably someone else has mentioned this earlier and if so this is just a reminder.

1N4E: Kill all the wraithwings save one; kill the last one on the force arrow.

1S2E: This is a scripting puzzle. All I can say is, keep the wraithwings off the traps. And use the doors.

To the rest of you: I've got level IX part 2 done, and I'm working on level X. There are also more rooms on each level. I'll release a new version when X is done.

*bump*

Okay, there are still some empty passageways which I want to put rooms in, and Level Ten still isn't quite done, but there are too many good rooms in here to keep to myself. And several rooms which need testing beyond what I can give. Go through the whole hold, I think there's at least one new room on each level. :)

EDIT:

Also, one of the more notable changes is that I got rid of the challenge scripting in II1S1W and VII1N1E, and simply made secret rooms where the challenge is enforced - therefore you have to beat the challenges in order to master the hold.

And thanks for finally doing something about that one on level 8.
