This thread is to discuss changes that need doing for the The Untold Tales of Gunthro Budkin contest. If any of the architects want to make changes or updates to their entries, please post your revised work here. I know that there are some broken rooms and other issues that may warrant sorting out.

From watching Nuntar's replay, I saw a serious break to 1S3E in my own entry, so I fixed that here. No other changes have been made so far.

In keeping with the Gunthro theme, I'm planning on expanding the main island into a more Gunthro-esque level hub, adding little bits of story here and there, and possibly doing a final exam level that combines the six elements used in this contest. Basically, this would just be mirroring the structure of the official Gunthro hold.

I'm not going to be introducing any story-related changes within the entries themselves; this would all take place on the hub level. I also don't expect any help with making the exam level, although I will accept rooms combining the elements if anyone wants to contribute anything. The exam level will be "Occupied Boatworks" in the aboveground style, and will contain puzzles using some combination of: bridges, floor spikes, rock giants, aumtlich, orthosquares, and speed potions.

I'm definitely going to update my entry to fix the USes, I'll get around to that soon.

I didn't add dialogue to my entry in the contest, but you're free to add some if it fits the hold better, I'm bad at creative writing so I just don't do it.

Edit: Hopefully fixed USes in 2s, 3s, 3s1w and a backtracking issue in 1s.

Dec 25th update:

I replaced the four rooms mentioned by PigmyWubba in Immersed Sanctuary, so hopefully everything now works as intended.

I haven't quite cobbled together Occupied Boatworks yet, but the Hub level is mostly finished. I have updated the attachment in the first post to include the hub level.

Occupied Boatworks is almost done, so I hope to post another update here soon.

Alright, I think I might have finally finished this thing. Feedback on the Occupied Boatworks level would be appreciated. The entries themselves are unchanged from the previous update.

Since I don't want this contest compilation sitting here for too much longer, I'm planning on submitting this to the HA in a week or so unless there is any feedback necessitating a delay.

I just realised that it's possible to get behind the soldier in the Entrance of Occupied Boatworks. That passage was supposed to be completely inaccessible. The player could potentially get trapped there if they don't clear the Entrance and they take that side passage.

Also, a soldier that I added to 1E for decorative purposes kind of messes up that room, so I removed him.

"Seized out ships" should be "seized OUR ships"

1S1E - should soldiers be unkillable?

Orthogonal Road
Entrance - dialogue repeats every time room is entered.
4S1E - needs checkpoints.

Occupied Boatworks
1W - I need a hint. Er, ok got it, including the challenge. Bug: the challenge is also awarded if you enter from the W and then kill the eastern aumtlich yourself, becoming stuck.

I added a checkpoint to The Orthogonal Road 4S1E at (15,13). Xindaris, hopefully this is okay with you. If you want it placed elsewhere, let me know.

disoriented, thanks for the feedback. I will be leaving most of those things as they are though. Entrance text repeating is consistent with GatEB. Likewise, the soldiers in non-puzzle rooms all tend to be unkillable.

I have fixed the typo and challenge issue in the Occupied Boatworks level. I'll hopefully be doing some more testing myself and will then upload the fixed version.

Can someone please confirm for me that Immersed Sanctuary 3S and 3S1W are possible?

I am hoping to submit this hold to the HA on the 20th. If Nuntar hasn't made the changes that he wants to his entry by then, he has requested that Running the Rapids be removed from the final compilation, so if it comes to that I will be removing the level and leaving a scroll there to explain why there are still speed potions in the compilation level.

I've finally finished with this hold. I've integrated Nuntar's most recent version of the hold and played through the entire thing from start to finish without encountering any issues.

This should be ready to send to the HA, and I'll do so sometime this week if I don't hear anything from anybody regarding it. Let's make that more explicit: I'll be sending it to HA on Wednesday afternoon, my time, so for the rest of you that means you should voice any concerns that you have by Tuesday your time.

Final version of RtR. Changelog:

2N1W: 22,8 door moved to 25,8, should be enough to prevent Jeff's US (run to SE orb at the start, soldier goes for N queen).
2N3W: Fixed misaligned tunnels.
1N4W: Removed all 1-tile obstacles and added delay mechanism.

I've updated the hold with the newest changes. I've played through the changed rooms in the editor and haven't noticed any significant issues, so I'm pretty much convinced that this hold is done at this point.

I've posted the updated version in the first post here in case anyone wants to check out Nuntar's modified rooms in context, and will be submitting this to HA this weekend if I don't hear any complaints before then.

I'm aware that I added some scripting to one of Nuntar's rooms, so I'll do a full run of his level when I sober up (company drinking parties are a thing) but I'm pretty sure that everything should be working as intended.
