After the second level, I found the level I made. Yeah, I was wondering what had happened to it.

Unfortunately, when I went down the stairs, I went back to the beginning of the level. That's something you can fix in the next update, making the stairs go to level 4. Also, a scroll in the Entrance room saying that this level was made by Chaco would be nice.

One last thing - this hold isn't Anyone Edit, so if you could make it so when you update it, that'd be very nice.

Thanks for making this hold, Neather2! Hopefully it will eventually reach your 25 level goal. :)

So, how about posting an Anyone-Edit version that has the stairs at the end of my level going to level four? I'd like to see the rest of your hold, and this mistake keeps me from doing so. :?

Let me see if I understand -

You only want to post the hold when all twenty-five levels are done? And then you want all of us to play through the entire hold, looking for mistakes and errors that let us solve the rooms too easily?

That's pretty good, except for one problem - it means we can't offer our thoughts until you've got the entire thing done. If you posted a new version every time you got a level done instead of just posting it when all twenty five are done, we can test and point out things to get fixed in the next segment, and then they get fixed!

This is good because if someone just wanders by, looking for a hold to play, they can find sixteen levels to play, instead of three levels and a broken staircase to the fourth, and a promise that "when i'm all done I'll post more levels".

This is just what I think, though. Feel free to continue building and upload at the end if that's what you want.

Are you saying a hold is only good if this is published every time a level is finished?

That's pretty good, except for two problems: you assume that a multi-level hold is finished level-by-level. Well, that's not true. For example, if you look at Chaco's Dungeon (just an random example), every level is expanded every time a new version comes out. And the tester have to test the whole level again.

A second problem is that those half-finished hold is staying in my holds list, because I want to see that the room has been changed (and only to do the rooms that has been changed, why don't those architects just tell you which rooms has been changed? Grrr...). And the holds list is clogging up right now with those old holds (and because my computer is quite old now, it makes the Change Location menu very slow). I think I'm going to remove some.

No, just give me a hold that's almost finished. At least I don't have to going through it every time some rooms in some levels has been updated.

Of course, this is my personal opinion only.

No, I didn't mean in any way that a hold is only good if published in segments. I was only pointing out some good qualities about the idea, and you've contributed some counter-arguments.

Yes, a multi-level hold can sometimes have additional rooms added to it, and indeed, I myself have done this with my own dungeon, and been negligent with telling the other forum members about the rooms that have changed. Rest assured, I'm not going to make said mistake in my next update.

If rooms are added, sometimes you don't need to replay the level if there's a checkpoint by the final staircase, but not behind a blue door - you can restore to that checkpoint and then move to the rooms. However, I'm not sure I've adequately followed this convention.

But, if one keeps the hold as Anyone-Edit and adds levels to the original hold, doesn't the hold replace the old one when you import it? Even if it doesn't due to some sort of user error, you can delete the old holds like you mentioned earlier.

In summary, I recognize your complaints and the fact that you disagree with me on this issue, and I'll try to make the testing process a bit more comfortable on my own hold. Thanks for the response, Tim! :)

And, now I see Neather2 has, actually, uploaded a new version. I'll stop making my clearly unreasonable demands now. Sorry about stirring up all this conflict.

But, for you, it can be a good idea to post your hold here every 2 weeks. If your computer breaks down, you can download your hold here. (make sure it's "Anyone-Edit") :)

Okay, I've worked through most of the Fourth Level after replaying the hold in JtRH, since it was apparently moved to that DROD version in the latest release.

Anyway, I'm very impressed. Once North, Once South, and Once North Once East are very nice rooms, and Once North Once West was somewhat tricky.

I'm actually stuck (!) on Once West, though. Here's what I'm thinking:

1. The main problem here is getting the trapdoors under that central blob.

2. You can't leave the Tar Mothers alive when you enter the new section.

3. The serpent isn't any help, since it gets stuck in itself immediately.

4. Therefore, I've got to use tar babies in order to change the tar blob growth so all the center trapdoors are accessible.

This doesn't seem especially possible, though, since there aren't any until the first spawn, and at that point the center blob turns into a 4x4 blob which always leaves one trapdoor covered, no matter what happens outside.

Of course, I can do the rest of the room if I leave one of the Tar Mothers alive, but then the force arrows keep me from returning back to the mother and I end up trapped.

Great work, Neather2! :) I'll definitely play this hold once all 25 levels are done.
