icon attention all peple with drod smarts! (+1)  
I'm in a bit of a cookie, you see I trying to make my own level but for my storyline to work I need a charactor to be killd by another monster

what I did was this: I carefully timed when the monster would appear on the character's spot. then I had the character disappear that turn, and had the monster move into the character's location (important: the "monster" has to be a "character" also, and _has to be placed after the victim in the order that you place npcs into the room_). then I had the "monster" do a "flush speech" and then a sound effect of a sword swipe. it didn't generate blood spatter, but otherwise looked and sounded like a kill.

because other NPCs were talking in the room before the kill, so the sound effect would be delayed from the action of killing if you held the 5 key down... with flush speech, the sound effect always matched, even though one would miss dialog -- I figured people mashing 5 to miss the cutscene weren't going to care about the dialog, anyway. whereas they'd notice and think it a bug if several minutes after the kill, they heard a pop for no apparent reason.

EDIT: since I can't cut and paste scripts, and wanted to side by side them, anyway, the attachment is the scripts of two characters in my hold, the righthand script is the killer of the lefthand script

Maybe. But this type of abuse is already possible. You can force a room restart by having Halph standing next to a scripted guard/mimic and have it sword him.

true, but seeing that it can already be done, it would be damn convenient to have it scripted for stories and effecency puzzles.(eg, halph is posioned, will die at turn 100 unless beethro reaches him a gives him the antidote.

Whats even more interesting is that depending on how its implemented, you can have beethro die as well, and that could be nasty(if player at square X, Die Beethro)

This is just a Die command that makes the current NPC die - it's not for making other things die. Sworded (or hooked) characters are what you need for that.

So will using die on an NPC golem leave a rock pile? That would be nice, yet also quite abusable.
