Attached is a demo for The Great Adventure 2: The Forest - 2S1E. In this room, an adder is trapped in the middle of a set of force arrows and has its on body tiles adjacent to it, but doesn't shrink.

Later in the demo, another adder moves onto a force arrow next to the bigger one and ends up shrinking to death, which makes this seem even stranger.

My best guess is that it has to do with the fact that there are force arrows in all orthogonal directions around the head, but if this is a rule quirk it seems like a bad one.

Pretty sure this is intended - the way I understand it, if the adder tries to move somewhere and cannot because of an adder, it shrinks. That's not the case here - it can't move because of a force arrow, which doesn't cause it to shrink. I'm not against changing it, though, as this does seem a little surprising.

Unfortunately, there is a long-standing inconsistency here. An adder will not shrink if blocked by force arrow + adder body on the same tile, but will shrink if blocked by closed door + adder body on the same tile. The latter has been used in a puzzle in GJL.

Bumping this to ask: Since there has been some consideration lately of fixing old bugs even if that breaks stuff, could we consider fixing the above bug, i.e. making it so that an adder blocked by an adder on a closed door doesn't shrink? I know that Gigantic Jewel Lost : Goblin Woods 2N2W is designed to use the buggy behaviour but I don't know for certain of any other rooms that would be affected.

For the record, the above room only uses the yellow door behavior in order to access a secret - it can be solved without it. So a change would only require adding another way to get to the secret (easiest change would be just making it freely available).

The adder-on-yellow-door behavior is also used to solve Quick Lunch Break Hold #4 : 10 Rapid Bites : 2 North, 1 East, in which it's far more central to the puzzle. I imagine that room could simply be removed from the level.

Just checked some other things: the behavior also happens with tunnels, other doors (red, green, blue, black) and with potions.

However, an opposite-direction force arrow on any of those things causes the adder not to shrink.

You can also build a bomb or an orb under an adder with scripting (though you can't place either object under one in the editor) and an adder trying to move into either of those things under another adder will still die. Didn't check everything buildable to see if it would work (tarstuff doesn't, though).

So as currently implemented, it looks like it's force arrows that are the exception.
