Currently you cannot build cracked and broken orbs, or remove any type of orb with a script, short of attacking a cracked/broken one or building a pit to drop it down, so no silent way of removing one.

I have a cutscene that plays at the start of a room where a cracked orb gets broken and I don't want it to re-appear when you revisit the room. This is currently impossible.

This is a good feature request and I support it - being able to remove obstacle tiles (like rocks) would be useful too.

Probably the only way to do this in the current engine (without any new features) would be to go to a new room (possibly on its own level) to show the cutscene, where the room has the cracked orb and the cutscene happens, and then once finished, go to a new level entrance in a new room (inserted into the level "in context" among all the other rooms), where that room contains the "finished state" and doesn't have the cracked orb.

This is how I handled Processing Station 9 and the briar root in Finding the First Truth's city area: the cutscene takes place in a new room that has a briar root, and then the main level has a room without the briar root, so that on all subsequent visits the briar root isn't present.

In 5.0.2 it will now be possible to build cracked and broken orbs. The orb association is not lost (at least until the broken orb is completely destroyed) so it will be now possible to, for example, make an orb which is usable only once per 30 turns.

This issue appears to have been fixed for 5.0.2. I was able to replace broken orbs with cracked orbs and maintain the orb associations. Trying to build an "Orb" at a location with a cracked orb or broken orb did not do anything, so testing going from cracked -> regular and broken -> regular wasn't possible. Possible bug, maybe?

You can now replace cracked/broken orbs with regular orbs in 5.0.2.1004. This also preserves orb connections.
