Ahh, another hold to be submitted on the Architecture Board. This hold is about... well, I'm going to have to make you download it to get most of the basic idea, but really, it's just about Beethro adventuring a place and finding something unexpected. Very unexpected.

This hold is recruiting Beta Testers! Post if you want to join, if, you want to join.

Updates for version E!
Third level added
Impossible room fixed
Updated the secret scrolls in Concourse of Masters
Gave "Room thanks to..." scrolls in those rooms in Level 2

Just a couple improvements:
Upper Caves 1 south-Speech happens everytime you enter the room. Also, could you make the darkness a bit lighter. I couldn't see the 'delver'
1 south 1 east-Same speech problem, you might want to check all speech scripts
Pending name-Well, this demo was pretty short for a demo, but I liked the beginning storyline and the way Beethro talked out of confusion

Strange. I thought I put ends on all of the scripts.

Meanwhile, I can make the 'delver' room area where the delver was, as bright as the rest of the level, or in other words, pretty damn dark.

Two more things:
Did you want to beta test this hold to see its progress, or do you just want to wait a month or two for the full version?

This one reveals the conclusion of what happened to Beethro, and what happens next. I'm sorry to say that there are no puzzles yet. Those will be in the next version.

Next version goal: Level 1 done.

Yes, I wanted to make it look all imperial like. However, I did not copy the room, I actually made it myself.

Answering the question at the end of the hold, did you enjoy the preview/demo?

This one includes the first level of the test and a surprising discovery! In addition to that, 13 rooms, and 2 secrets! Hope you enjoy this!

Next version goals: Level 2 and 3 done. All bug fixes for Level 1 done.

The backtracking bug has been fixed. Also, Captain Surdenade has abilities that we don't know. These abilities will save you from rather deadly...er events in the deeper dungeons.

I understand how secret rooms are supposed to be like, but exactly how are you supposed to solve that room? I have some ideas, but...

EDIT: I got the room now. This level is working mainly on roaches, so your good secret room wouldn't work that well.

Although, what good puzzle could make out of roaches? Hmm..

I got the secret rooms sooooo much more difficult! You'd be surprised at them.

Should be tomorrow. I'll work on it today, but my goal is to get both level 2 and level 3 done tomorrow.

And you don't need broken wall to solve 1N 2E, so you should remove it.
True, but I'm not going to since there are some people who may not be able to get the roaches coming from 3 directions, some of this is explained in the note.

25 puzzle levels (wow!), 6 story levels, 1 master level, and 1 ??? level.

What, you mean the Captain who explains about the rubble, and if you go to the secret room, he reappears and re-explains everything?

I'll take a look at this hold and give you some feedback on it... today's a day where I have some free time :)

EDIT:

So far, it looks like you have a good start and premise to this hold. It's nowhere near complete, though, so I hope you start that second level soon. ;)

The Entrance:

First, this entire cave seems to have checkerboard tiles for no reason. If this is a cave, why isn't the floor rock or dirt?

Second, the cutscene in the Entrance repeats if Beethro backtracks to the room. I'd either have this cutscene script end after the first time it is done, or keep Beethro from backtracking from Once South to the Entrance once he gets there.

Once South:

It's really dark in this room, so I had trouble spotting this other person that Beethro was talking about. Also, why did you hide the acknowledgements scroll in Once South Once West behind secret wall? That's something that people should be able to find easily.

Once East:

I know those first three lines of speech were cut off because I advanced too quickly towards the end of the path. Perhaps if that started sooner I would be able to watch those lines, then continue onward and trigger the cutscene (which should last a bit longer than three 175-ms turns)

EDIT AGAIN:

Oh, er, sorry, I had downloaded the version in the first post of the thread. It's an architectural convention to always post the most recent version of the hold in the first post and edit that whenever a new version is made, and since the hold attached to the first post is the one that gets uploaded to the HA interface, I'd recommend that you attach the most recent version to the top post from now on. :)

Mr Slice, did you make that Resting Facility room? Because it looks as if it was pinched from Imperial Wandering without permission :?

There is also a room in First Level that very closely resembles the first Roach room in KDD...

Anyway, some comments:


1N:Fine.
2N: Again, this looks like it was copied from KDD. You can't just do that without permission.
3N: Nice little puzzle.
2N2E: No real challenge here, but fits in with the level's theme.
2N3E: Again - not very hard, but fine.
1E: Fine.
1S1E: Again, fine. A little similar to 1E.
1S2E: Nice room. Not too hard, but a little challenge made it fun.
2E: Fine. The roach behind Beethro added a bit of a twist but overall not a hard room. Easier than 1S2E.
1N2E: The crumbly wall isn't really necessary; it's not too hard even without using the crumbly wall.
1N1E: Good room, although the checkpoint placement is a bit inconvenient; consider moving them inside the 'den'?

Come on! I added a lot more rubble, secret walls, and the entire room layout is different!

Well, that and I wouldn't be able to copy rooms of KDD and JtRH. Those guys are set on either You and Masters or Only You.
