Yep, it's Peter Pan. Pretty good version, I think. Jason Isaacs is phenomenal as both Mr. Darling (pictured) and Captain Hook, playing both roles as is the tradition.

Winner.

The specific episode is the twelfth episode of series 2, Army of Ghosts - the first screenshot is the fade between an alien planet with pterodactyls flying around and an Earth beach, with Rose monologuing; the second screenshot is in the Torchwood Institute, just as that women is about to be attacked by something nasty.

"Is that the Bad Wolf plain in 'Parting of the Ways'?" They're definitely both from that episode.

Parting of the Ways didn't go anywhere near a plain. Whatchu on about?

actually, I give you credit. He may have named a relevant word, but he couldn't be bothered to toss said word at wikipedia :)

I found it by remembering having seen shows about history of film. All of them always show the same thing as the 'first movie' and so I wikipedia-d(*) "history of film" and found it from there. though I think I showed an image of the wrong horse, perhaps. if you look up "zoopraxiscope" (the first movie _projector_), it shows a different one (more detailed).

(*) even though it's now become more useful than google for most things I want to look up, it doesn't lend itself as well to forming into a verb. sad.

Right, because who wouldn't recognize Ellen Ripstein? Er.

OK, I didn't expect that to go that quickly. But yes, that's Ellen Ripstein, just after winning the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament for the first time in however many trips to the finals without winning (which earned her the sobriquet of "the Susan Lucci of crosswords"). Which was featured in the documentary Wordplay.

I happened to be there for that victory, and know most of the people seen in the movie (though I don't appear in the movie itself; I didn't make it to the tournament the two years they were filming there).
