It seems like they're setting up the basics-of-basics for programming in Java, it'd be the equivalent of saying 'in order to do construction work you'll need a toolbox so I recommend this free one'. You could maybe argue it's advertising if the person weren't asking for programming basics or if Java JDKs weren't free, or you could argue that recommending specific tools is already a bit too advanced for a beginner and that it shouldn't be something to worry about until it can realistically cause issues, but saying it's spam seems like it's a bit too harsh...

Yeah, spambots on this forum frequently copy old posts in order to look more innocuous. Sometimes it goes unnoticed for a while if the copied post isn't blatantly on the same page.

Personally I mention the copying when I report such bots, just to minimize this kind of confusion.

Okay, so that guy with all the alter egos. I've gotten a few PMs from Skell where he gave me a talking-to about "feeding the trolls". Now, referencing the guy directly may make it seem like I haven't learned anything, but I'm actually trying to spread Skell's message. Trolls want a reaction, and reporting is kind of in that category. So stop reporting him.

Now, you may feel obligated to keep the forum clean, but you have to recognize the pattern. Every time the guy gets in he makes a huge scene very quickly. The moderators don't need their glasses on to find him.
