Kill roaches last instead of seeps.

Why roaches? Try goblins. That way, you'll even get a special message.

Actually, I cheated - I couldn't do the roaches just by themselves, so I brought a golem over from the second section (and did the third section with goblins AND not killing the golem), and killed it on one of the spawners.

I'm pretty sure the strategy's about the same for the goblins.

Yeah, I think it was Alneyan who suggested making it a challenge to not kill the seeps in the last section, so as Stefan said, I made a special message. Actually, Beethro should say something different for each of the 4 possibilities in the final section. (If not, then I screwed something up somehow.)

Game on,

Yup, you can use pretty much any order in this room, though there is a canonical order that is clearly easier. Still, you can always go goblins-golems-seeps-roaches. ;)

The one thing I cannot do is finish with the golems. I had a theory about using a roach or a goblin to try and disturb the golems, thus creating an opening. I've never managed to pull it out, though.

Don't brained golems work the same as brained roaches?

Or do you, in fact, need to use the golems as I said to survive?

No. Brained golems will not move if the spot that the brain suggests is blocked. Roaches, however, will attempt to find a way around. An example is a sword: A brained roach will go around, but a brained golem will not move. This is consistent with normal "Dumb Beeline" (to quote the source code) movement.

Ah, yes, I forgot that little bit. However, walls and the like are not a problem, and golems follow the pathmap just as well as roaches do.
