How come `high scores' have the fewest number of moves? Are we playing golf? I think not! I say we should be going for demos with the most number of moves! So here's a simple one-room hold (with no exit). What's your high score? (If you want to prove your superiority, make sure to make liberal use of the F4 key...)

Oh dear. Well, I'm so not going to be involved with this, but I look forward to (being saddened by?) the results :D.

Couldn't we just wait forever upon forever before exiting the room?

I made 739 moves before dying, but unortunately you can't save demos in editor.

Playing without unlimited undo will never give as good results. (Unless you play in editor until you get as far as you can and then write down every move made in reverse order by undoing all the way to the beginning and then play it outside the editor with your notes. (=tedious))

Very entertaining.

See how long you can survive this.

I'm not sure if it's easier w/o the brain.

It might even be possible to kill all the roaches?

(and if anyone's interested, I think I managed about 350 moves for bibelot's).

Well, the first version spawns 32 roaches per spawn, so even with perfect efficiency the roaches will stack up on you and you will eventually die.

Here's an absurd 1070 move demo.

Before you think that I wasted many, many hours playing this room, let me assure you that I only wasted many hours playing this room. Then I decided that it would be more productive to write a program to do it for me, so I spent a few hours doing that, and then I had it play overnight. This is the best solution it came up with in that time, but it's likely not optimal, if anyone else wants to give it a shot (probably not). I had to type in the moves by hand, though. Is there a way I can input a string of characters like 'w66666qwqwqw2q9w...' into DROD without manually hitting every key?

Hmm, you could program something that could emulate a keyboard and be considered an input device, be given a text macro and type that in, but short of that the answer is no. Ctrl key helps for qwqwqw situations though.

Get someone else to hit them for you?

If you're in Linux, you can make a preload-library that overrides SDL_PollEvent and generates keypress-events from a movement sequence in a file when you press some key.

You can also just modify the DROD source to support reading movement sequences from a file, of course.
