Wow. That was completely unexpected! Thanks to everyone who voted and to gamerextreme101 for organising the competition. I felt there were several excellent holds (ones I expected to do better than mine in fact).
Without my copy of DROD on this computer I can't really make too much comment at the moment. Off the top of my head, I was really impressed by holds 1, 11 and 12. I suspect the fact that my hold was easier gave it an advantage, to be honest.
Incidentally there is a scroll missing from room 1S of my hold (forgot to include it) and 1S1E has the weird arrow formation to make it easier to get rid of the snake (?or at least I found it did, it was the last room I made, so it wasn;t the best).
As for killing the snake (the 2nd time) in 1N1E

(Can I hold on to my credit for a JtRH CD despite the fact I am in the UK?) Hope everyone had a great festive season, btw. All the best.

I am so happy because when I first entered and played through the first few holds, I was all "Wow...there are some crazy architects out there..." and I realized mine was total cake compared to others. I thought I was going to come in dead last and then be forced to find a dark corner to hide in and assume a fetal position and suck my thumb the rest of my life.

Now for me commenting on Tim's comments.

A very cheese obsessive hold. You might call me strange, but I like this hold very much. Not too hard, but I also used a lot of swear words with that tar room...

And I thought I was the only one who liked my hold. :D I tried to be difficult, but then I realized I wasn't.

1N1W: Lots of cheese! I must say, when I reread the scrolls, I really laughed out loud

I found this room the most difficult when I was playing through it because I kept trapping myself, and I don't know how. After sending it in, I realized I pretty much gave me away with those scrolls...

1N: A really decent room. It was very calculating where not to go.

When I first made the room, I didn't realize that tar didn't spawn when you were invisible, so I kept trying to take it on. Yeah...so that was my intended solution, and the potion was just for decoration, basically.

1N1E: I died a lot in the first part of the room. Yeah, snakes are fun...

I just had fun making pretty shapes. :D

1E: One of the slower rooms in this contest. (Brains only...) It could be a lot harder though...

Originally, the whole room was a force arrow maze, but upon replay, I realized that after 5 hours (seriously) I couldn't find the path I made, which was around 600 moves long, with 50 or so dead ends and looping paths. So I made a smaller one with some simple trapdoor puzzles which I got from some of those "don't lift up your pencil or cross yor path and trace the shape" puzzles.

1S1E: This is the best room in this hold I think, an eye-only room in which I get killed a lot. Especially the NW part. I like it.

I had to redo the room so many times because I didn't have 110 eyes. That was more frustrting than the room itself for me.

1S: I was a bit stumped with this one, but this is a case of how to make a room with lots of roach queens, but is still easy. Nice.

I wanted my litle brother to try out my hold, since he loves DROD also, and he couldn't figure out how to enter the room. It was fun watching him get frustrated. The end.

1S1W: This room was really tricky. And no, I still don't know how goblins work. I should not skip goblin levels in KDD in the future...

I deliberately hid a secret message in that room, because I'm fat. ^_____^

1W: It looked so easy but is so horrible... I don't want to talk about it...

I seriously didn't find it that difficult. I don't really find tar in general that difficult. When ever I do a tar room, I cut through a few blocks of tar, and when there is 4-ish moves left in the counter, I go to a safe spot to sit or turn my sword to where tar babies will spawn...so I didn't intend it to be as horribly frustrating as everyone says it is.

No offense, Stefan, but I found Tim's comments about 9478667887645598 times more helpful. Yes, I do realize my rooms suck compared to others, but I don't need someone to tell me things I already know.

Congratulations everyone for making such amazing holds. They will keep me entertained for a while, considering that I haven't totally figured out every single room yet. :D I am so totally looking foward to the next contest and the release of JtRH.

Sorry, also meant to say that 7 was a great hold too. That and 1 were my favourites. Especially liked the room in 7 where you have to block off the tar with 3 wws and then have to keep an eye alive to use as an obstacle (2W? can't remember). Genius. Entry 1 8S was, as many people have remarked, a very very clever room also.
btw, I dispute that 1N1E of my level was unoriginal: I think it's the first room ever in which you have to kill the same monster twice, and do it differently each time (the snake). I was proud of it anyway. :)
When's the next competition, is there one every month?

Stefan
I am still trying to beat your hold #3. Wow, what a hard one. :) You could build a very large hold spreading those challenges around over many rooms if you had the time and desire(Just a suggestion).

But my problem right now is the same as
Rabscuttle wrote about with Restricted Resources (#3) 1W, I can't get the goblin past the SE serpent.
I read your suggestions and tried them but I just do not get it and I want to get it.

Send help sooooooon....
