#6. A combo of short words, and many commas, periods, etc. might just work, but I could be wrong, as people often are.

OOG: #s 1, 3, and 4 were correct.

Also OOG: I have surprisingly just ran out of mod points. So I guess I won't be modding future ones for a while or something.

#1. Obviously, in a dictionary, "zeppelin" is after "aardvark," but I don't know if you'd agree.

How about if you just post messages saying which guesses follow the rule and which don't - then other people can mod the guesses as appropriate if they want to.

For example, make posts like:

Sillyman #1 : +1
Sillyman #2 : -1
Sillyman #3 : +1
Sillyman #4 : +1
Sillyman #5 : -1

#7. Mod. Point. Yay. Happy. Fun. Joy.

The INVISIBLE ROLLERBLADE is: The entry must have punctuation > the length of the longest word in the entry.

Sillyman has got it!

Now, if some kind mod would mod him up by approx. 14 points, that would be very kind of them.

Okay.

#1. Three and fifty numbers of red doors.

#2. Hidden images fall newly over rooms of death.

#3. Final Neather of revered Droding flee before Beethro.

I've gone through and taken away everyone's mod downs and modded up people who guessed the rule. (Except for mine, but I don't care about mod points.)

Only the last game, unfortunately. I still have some -7 on my page from the one a few back.

Ah well, I wonder who'd be bored enough to go through this entire thread modding -1s to 0s?

[off game]

Why +1?
An you would only have to start from page 18.

How does the rule go exactly? Both these were 'good':

#4: You're all for it, and you're you and not him.

#1. Comma, Comma, Comma, Comma, Comma?

Yet #4 has 4 punctuation marks, and "You're" has length 5 or 6, depending on what you're counting. #1 has 5 marks and 5 letters per word? The both seem to go against the rule as stated.

For #1, presumably sillyman's underlined > means "greater than or equal to". #4 ... well, you're is a contraction that can be counted as one or two words. Basing a rule on the number or length of "words" in a potentially nitpicky environment is problematic in any case: word is one of those everyday words with no well-defined technical meaning.

Right on both accounts. It was "There must be at least as many punctuation marks in the phrase as letters in the longest words.", and I counted contractions as separate words/

#1: For now, obvious rules don't impress.

#2: When Beethro freezes, nine other roaches don't move either.

Sillyman, does your #2 actually fit your rule?

Also: is there any reason everything has to be done through mod-ups and mod-downs? It seems we all keep running out of mod points...

OK, it was underlined!

I was reading the forum via email, where it looked like a _ followed by a > followed by a _. Is this some kind of secret UBB code for underlining? We already have [ u ] for underlining.

It's a convention for representing underlines in cases where an actual line underneath isn't possible, like text-only email or usenet messages.

#4. This fourth note is obviously needed to catch me up with the moderator, as the rules deem necessary.

GUESS: A sentence fits the rule if five words, in order but not necessarily consecutive, start with the letters "f, n, o, r, d".

With the approval of those participating: Unless someone dumps a whole lot of rank points on me, I'll just be noting "+1" or "-1", rather than actually modding guesses.

#1: In this round, you do have some non-zero chance of accidentally following the rule.

#2: I'm going to wait before giving too many hints.

#3: This will be the final example of the rule in this post.
