Both statements are not quite right. The first problem is that bombs have a relatively large blast radius, and will trigger others in the vicinity. The second is that the sword requires no ammo.

However, the ultimate weapon probably would be Beethro's Raygun.

Not quite; in a room made entirely of trapdoors and walls, a mimic potion is fatal.

Edit: Is there something wrong with the fact that not being able to place a potion means that you cannot move, and so you will probably starve to death, standing in one place? It is in your way, because you can't step on it, just as a pit is in your way because you cannot walk on it (although you could fall into it).
