OK . . . I agree that getting the roaches closer to each other will be helpful, since there are then more options to rotate the axis between them. What I'm not seeing is how to get them closer - I can move the northwest roach one square farther from its partner, and then there is nothing I can do thenceforth to change their relative positions.

What am I missing?
