angel10 only posted once, but he/she replied to minimike/"Minecraft98"'s "Movie Contest" thread with "good post...." which is not only irrelevant, it's also in response to something over 3 and a half years ago.

This may be just a new user (only registered yesterday, after all), but that also is a trait of a potential spambot.

Has anyone yet worked out what the spammers are attempting to achieve by registering accounts solely to insert a copy of an old post into a different thread? Is there some intended payload of a URL that's getting eaten by the site's filters, maybe? Otherwise it seems rather pointless.

My best guess is that on big forums with loads of posts each day it is very difficult to track if a post is not a duplicate of some other older content. Such posts are also less likely to be identified as outright spam, which increases the reputation of poster and thus might improve their standing in the community to the point where they can post links or keywords.

lauragibs is another spambot guaranteed, if only because it also appeared on another (completely unrelated) forum I frequent here and it has been posting identical messages to the ones it made here.
