You can post them without testing, sure. That of course runs the risk that the transparency won't work correctly or something like that, but the worst that can happen is that you won't win.

Also, since the goal of this contest is to find the best version of the ortho square, I'd rather have as many entries as possible. Which means that if there's an entry that isn't working I'll probably contact the person who entered it and give them an opportunity to fix it before judging starts. I'm not promising I'll do this because I'm rather busy with real work stuff, but I'll try.

Ah, many thanks again eytanz. I don't mind at all the idea of not winning; I just don't want to risk messing up my DROD software again.

If Hikari was around I could ask him to test them for me, but he hasn't been in the forum for ages.

Elf.

1) Create a file in the \data\Bitmaps\ folder of DROD called <name>.tim, where <name> is any valid file name you like. The file should contain only the following three characters: 458

how on earth do i make a .tim file?

If you're using Windows, just use notepad and rename the file from something.txt to something.tim.

Not sure what to do in a Mac.

Using a Mac, it's pretty much the same thing, with the alternative of single-clicking the filename and renaming it to something.tim .

What I'm mostly unclear about is what is that Mac's counterpart for Notepad.

The Mac's counterpart for NotePad is an application called TextEdit; it works pretty much the same way as the Windows application except it doesn't fuss as much as NotePad if you save something without a .txt extension.

Actually, all you need to do is pick the thing on the bottom that says "Save As: Text File (*.txt)" and switch it to the other option (*.*), then type in the proper name. The automatic appending of extensions is usually a helpful feature.

Actually, all you need to do is enclose the filename in quotes when saving...
