That's a seep.
It will die if it isn't on wall or door.
Black door, on which seep is, will drop if you remove all tar (and mud).
So, you have to remove that tar blob.
It's not a easy task, and you need decoy's help for that.
But the decoy can't be used for that; it's not a mimic.

The solutions to rooms in this hold are not always intuitive. I'd recommend playing around and seeing what happens.

If you place the decoy to cut tar, does it cut immediately? Does it cut the next turn? Does this help you?

I must join in, being equally baffled . . . yes, the decoy cuts the tar immediately upon placement. It would be ideal if the decoy could be activated and placed in the same move (while the tar remains in suspended animation) but that's not what happens.

I don't see a way for the decoy and Beethro himself to cut the tar *at the exact same time*. (I'm sure there is one, I just don't see it.)

Got it, thanks. Your remark makes perfect sense after completing the room.

Indeed, it is a variation.

I'm willing to let someone else smack me at this point, if it will give me the answer. I keep coming back to this room and I can't see anything new.

So here is me, asking for a more explicit hint. You don't have to give the whole thing away (if you can avoid it), but I wouldn't complain if you did.

Josh

Here's sorta what I did (Warning - if I typed this right, it's close to a complete spoiler):
Semi-explicit:

Perhaps even more explicit:

Well, I was definitely close. But close is just another word for dead.

Got it now.

Thanks!
