When you kill a NPC Slayer on a obstacle it makes the noise but the purple stuff doesn't come out! Is that a bug?

No. Those are basically some kind of "essence" that runs away to hide. So when on an obstacle, it goes to hide under that obstacle and doesn't need to run anywhere else.

Wow. I'm assuming one of the abilities of this "essence" is to reform into a Slayer at some point or another? That would explain the Slayer following you into the next room after you kill him.

Not just Slayers. Plenty of other things can only be killed by an explosion. But other than that, I like this, and hope to see more elaboration in the future.

Well, yeah, but the Slayer is the only thing temporarily killable by your sword as well.

Don't forget the guy in JtRH Level 7 1S1W (the guy who likes a challenge) - you can go into the force arrow trap and kill him, at the expense of being trapped.
