Wondering what that thing is?
Haiku reigns supreme
          In case you are dense
          I'll draw a picture for you
          (Well, um, not really)
Use only haiku
because if you don't do so
We shall all smite you
          Reward those of us
          Who make up a clever rhyme
          or are just funny
Have five syllables
Then seven, no more, no less
Five again, it's fun!
          I say with a grin,
          (you can just ignore this line)
          Let the game begin!

Foreign words act odd...
More than one is two haiku;
Haikus is not a word.

English rules don't work
When a word has no plural;
Japanese has none.

I like to haiku...
Poetry without rhyming
is more fun for me.

...and also words that pluralize with no change in spelling... Not attacking anyone, *especially* not Elfstone; just pointing out an odd thing about Japanese nouns

According to the Chambers Dictionary the plural can be either Hiaku or Haikus - so we are both correct.

Ah, but I am happy to have my mistakes pointed out. I am a member of a Writer's site and there it is normal practice to help others with spelling and grammar and, in my main interest, poetry, to help with structure and so on. I'm so used to it that when I first came on to the site it felt odd not to do that. Other long standing members obviously didn't, so I bit my tongue.

Anyway, one thing that all Writers (or aspiring Writers ) learn very quickly is that one cannot properly proof-read one's own work. I wonder if it's a bit like testing one's own hold?
